A chat show called ‘The Caring View’ - described as “a little like Loose Women” for social care - has been created by care managers to voice their views every Tuesday night about the care issues that really matter.
The Caring View is a live weekly show with its first episode live on YouTube on Tuesday 13 April at 7.30pm. The show will be aired live every Tuesday evening and will cover care stories, care news in the media spotlight as well as positive stories that may not hit the headlines.
The chat show will address hot topics, best practice examples and will eventually host guests who will share their expertise. The show is also expected to feature a ‘care-free’ section covering topics such as what people are most looking forward to post-lockdown, carehome.co.uk has been told.
Idea for show 'born through the many months of campaigning’
The live show is presented by care managers who have appeared in the media to highlight the real challenges facing social care.
The hosts are care campaigners:
Adam Purnell, care quality lead at Kepplegate House care home.
Mark Topps is now a regional support manager for the London area. Mr Topps is currently focused on domiciliary care. Mr Topps was a care home manager at Little Wakering House care home until recently. Having spent much time away from his family during the pandemic, Mr Topps changed his frontline care home manager role to his new job which predominantly sees him working from home.
Mr Topps launched a petition for residents' rights which led to a debate in the Houses of Parliament. He was also a podcast guest on Let's Talk About Care.
Dawn Bunter is the care home manager at Iceni House. She has worked in "turn around" projects to transform care homes that have been rated 'Inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission.
Donna Pierpont is a care home manager at Broomgrove Trust Nursing Home. She is a qualified nurse with 27 years experience working in care homes.
Adam Purnell is the creator and host of ‘COVID Care Stories’ You Tube channel and is an ambassador for 'John’s Campaign', advocating the rights of those receiving care.
Many of the co-hosts have appeared on Good Morning Britain, Sky News and BBC during the Covid pandemic.
Adam Purnell said: “The idea for the show was born through the many months of campaigning”.
Referring to his co-hosts, he said: “Through the campaigning, they have managed to insert themselves into various media circles with regular appearances discussing hot topics in social care.
“Although there was now a larger presence of social care in the media, it became apparent that it was still overshadowed by negative press and selective story telling. It was with this realisation, coupled with a growing support base for each manager, that it was decided to create a social care chat show, a platform for all of social care”.
The Caring View chat show will air live on YouTube with its first episode on Tuesday 13 April at 7.30pm.
