The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has appointed Tyson Hepple to the new role of executive director of operations.
Mr Hepple, currently director-general at the Home Office has over 30 years of experience in a broad variety of operational roles, and is expected to start at CQC in early August.
Mr Hepple said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Care Quality Commission at such an important time for both the CQC and the wider health and care sector.
“The launch of CQC’s new strategy is a unique opportunity to drive positive change and enhance the vital work already being done here to improve the quality of health and social care services.”
Mr Hepple built his career completely in the Home Office. During that time he has had a wide range of experiences, working on policing, crime and safeguarding policy, being a private secretary to six ministers, and doing some international work, such as negotiating changes to the European Arrest Warrant. He also ran HM Passport Office for six months in 2014 to 2015.
He moved across to the immigration side of the Home Office in the autumn of 2015 and has spent the last two and a half years in UKVI, firstly leading on asylum operations and, since the beginning of 2017, on complex casework, as well as appeals and litigation.
CQC's chief executive, Ian Trenholm said: "I am very pleased to welcome Tyson to CQC. We have recently launched an ambitious new strategy and Tyson’s experience will be absolutely invaluable in helping us roll it out.
"The role of executive director of operations is an important addition to our executive team and critical to the implementation of our strategic plans. I look forward to working with Tyson so that we can continue to deliver our purpose in a rapidly changing health and care sector."
