Judging an art competition
Just up the road from Kingfisher Court there is a primary school, Hillocks Primary Academy. Over the years we have had some wonderful times with the pupils of this lovely school. We have crafted together, we have shown them around our beautiful garden, they have joined us for community events and have sung to us. We had so many plans, but they were scuppered by a global pandemic. We are a determined bunch, ask anyone that knows us but even we had to reschedule in the face of COVID 19.
Thankfully things have got back to some semblance of normality recently and we have begun planning more collaborations with Hillocks. To begin with we launched an art competition. We asked the children to create autumn and winter themed art and we created our own gallery event.
We had a lovely afternoon, the kitchen team provided us with some cake and sparkling wine, and we spent a lovely couple of hours looking at the artwork and discussing our favourites. The children did an amazing job and picking a winner was almost impossible. There are a lot of talented children at Hillocks Primary.
I think the nicest part of this event was being able to go to the school to present certificates and prizes to the children, they were so thrilled to see us and were excited to have us visit them. When restrictions are lifted, we’d like to go back and look around the school, it’d be very interesting to see how much school has changed since we were there.
The children are coming to sing Christmas carols for us next week, sadly we can’t let them inside, but they are happy to sing outside the window, we are all keeping our fingers crossed that it stays dry.
