After what was a challenging 2021, Care Home Open Week is returning in 2022 giving care homes the opportunity to build “long-lasting relationships” with their local communities and promote their career opportunities.

Care Home Open Week will run from 27 June – 3 July with hybrid opportunities to host an event either in person or virtually. This is an opportunity for care homes to show what they have to offer, their fantastic facilities, activities and services reminding everyone in the community they are there if they need support.

Too often the general public walks past care homes without wondering what happens inside. This is a chance to invite everyone to find out about the care home on their street and learn more about the social care sector.

Chief executive of Precious Homes, Mitesh Dhanak, said: “We are incredibly excited to host Care Home Open Week again this year, we know that community connections are vital for care homes to operate and we hope this will enable them to build long-lasting relationships that support their teams and residents to flourish.”

During lockdown in 2021, care homes were able to put on virtual events; schools ran virtual budding days and music sessions with older people. Care services hosted blue light breakfasts, inviting blue light workers to collect a free drive-through breakfast to thank them for their support and one MP took on a new role as quizmaster, hosting a virtual quiz with care home residents in his constituency.

Care Home Open Week 2022 also provides the perfect opportunity to promote career opportunities available in the sector, which encourages the community to support and build connections with their local service, considering how they can support those living and working in care communities throughout the year.

Last year Championing Social Care, hosts of Care Home Open Week, connected the Department of Health and Social Care, Silver Sunday and National Citizen Service to care homes across the country, providing unique opportunities to be part of national campaigns.
