Mr Johnson made his way to Sweetcroft care home’s Platinum Jubilee Party on Thursday and met with care workers as well as playing boules with some of its 21 residents.

Care home manager Harry Maharaj said: “The Prime Minister and I talked about the care home’s high review ratings on carehome.co.uk and he said ‘Well done’."

At the time of Mr Johnson’s visit on 26 May, Sweetcroft Care Home had a review score of 10 out of 10 based on reviews in the last two years. Over all time Sweetcroft Care Home has 58 reviews with an average 'Overall Experience' of 5 out of 5.

Mr Maharaj said of the PM's visit: “I was nervous but it was a really wonderful day."

Mr Johnson sat down and poured cups of tea for six residents as well as eating slice of cake in a Platinum Jubilee-themed room.

His visit came a day after he ate ‘humble’ pie as Sue Gray’s report was published revealing parties at No.10 in breach of coronavirus restrictions. Ms Grays' 'partygate' report criticised the Prime Minister’s leadership.

The next day, the Prime Minister made a speech congratulating the manager of the care home on his leadership at the setting which also has an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.

Mr Maharaj said: “Mr Johnson commented on the cleanliness of the care home and the decorations”.

Mr Johnson played a game of boules with residents but got “thrashed” by them during the game.

His visit to the care home was well received but it is not the first time he has headed to a care home after revelations about the partygate scandal.

The Prime Minister visited Parkfield House Nursing Home in Hillingdon run by Canford Healthcare on 15 February after reports in the press about parties at No.10.
