Ladies Day

Day three of Ascot is known colloquially as Ladies Day. The term dates back to 1823, when an anonymous poet described Thursday at Ascot as "Ladies' Day... when the women, like angels, look sweetly divine."

Whilst the title “Ladies Day” is not officially recognised by Ascot it has become synonymous with high fashion, a day to show off designer outfits and bespoke hats and fascinators created by renowned fashion houses and milliners.

You may recall our story from a couple of weeks ago when we became milliners for the day, creating our own bespoke fascinators ready for this very occasion. We couldn’t wait to wear them and this week the wait was over, Ladies Day arrived and what a wonderful day it was.

Dressed up in our posh headwear we gathered to watch the races and make our own judgements on the fashion, we then spent the rest of the afternoon taking part in our own race day event.

As each race started, we placed our bets and crossed our fingers, cheering on our horses as they crossed the line. It was so much fun, and we all got a little carried away with the excitement of the competition, well we are blaming the competition, it may have been the Pimm’s that was flowing all afternoon.

We had a wonderful time, electric atmosphere, delicious food, high fashion all washed down with fruit cocktails, it doesn’t get much better than that.
