There is something very therapeutic about being creative, about creating projects purely for the joy of the activity rather than the end result. Crafting sessions are always fun, always messy, and always accompanied by tea and cake. The tearoom makes a great venue for a session of painting, collaging, or drawing, the room is light and bright and homely, the perfect setting.
This week we tried our hand at some painting, letting our imaginations run wild. We mixed colours and attempted a variety of techniques, some more successfully than others. We were actually really quite impressed with our creations, for many of us it has been a long, long time since we have put brush to paper, and we surprised ourselves with our results.
One thing we have a lot of here at Westhill is free time and it is wonderful to be able to fill it with creative pursuits, whether we are knitting in the lounge, or still drawing in the garden, it is a nice way to relax and to connect with each other. Sometimes we achieve a lot, creating crafts to adorn the home or knitting bonnets for the hospital, other times we start strong but end up doing more chatting than creating, we go with the flow and that is just how it should be.
