Sherwood Lodge makes residents' dream come true

Residents, Pauline and Mary, at Sherwood Lodge had always wanted to go on a trip to the garden centre together, so staff at the home made their wish a reality.

Pauline and Mary have lived at Sherwood Lodge for about 2 years, and are beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making their dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to them, and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on Pauline and Mary’s faces.

Staff first found out about the ladies’ dream when they moved in 2 years ago and, ever since then, they have been dedicated to helping them achieve it. Pauline has anxiety most days, and the idea of going on such a day trip would normally unsettle her, but with reassurance and with Mary, and other residents Mary M and Doreen who also joined the dream trip at her side, she was bubbling with excitement. They were also accompanied by Senior Carer Claire, and Activities Co-ordinator Brian, who were there in support of this momentous occasion.

In response to this wonderful surprise, Pauline, said: “I was on the verge of tears. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”

Tracy Lyons, General Manager at the home, said: “We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Sherwood Lodge. It was so nice to see how happy the ladies were – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
