Staff and residents from Drummond Grange, a Barchester care home in Lasswade, are launching their very own music festival – POMFEST, or The Power of Music Festival. Taking place on July 22nd from 1pm to 5pm, the music festival is open to everyone and will feature performances from local bands and from the home’s own staff and residents.
Drummond Grange is no stranger to music launch events, last year 47 year old resident, Susanne Watson, from Bathgate and wrote and launched her own single, Helping Hand, performed by staff and residents from the home. What’s more, the home also launched its own radio station, Radio Drummond, last year and it was this project that gave poet Susanne the idea to write her song so it could be played on the radio.
Music is incredibly important to everyone at Drummond Grange, it is by far one of the residents and patient’s favourite activities so the home would like to throw open its doors and invite the local community to come and enjoy POMFEST with them. The current line-up, which may change, includes local acts: Dallas Wilson, Vada Wilkinson, VRA, Unspeakable Mondays and headliners Usual Affairs plus the Drummond Grange band and guest performances from Drummond Grange staff and residents throughout the afternoon.
Alina Brehar, General Manager at Drummond Grange comments: “At Drummond Grange we are hugely aware of the importance and the value of music, it is one of our residents and patients most therapeutic activities. We adore music here and we want to share that love of music and performing with the local community so please do come and join us on July 22nd“
