Windmill Manor makes resident's dream come true.
This is a story about Heulwen Lewis, farmer of Swan Lane Farm, Marlpit Hill, Edenbridge, Kent.
Resident, Heulwen Lewis, at Windmill Manor has always throughout her life been a big part of the Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show dating back to the 1950s when Heulwen’s father, the late Jenkin Rees Lewis was a long standing member of the Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Society. The family won First and Second Prize on many occasions for various categories within the show.
Heulwen has lived at Windmill Manor for a few months and is cherished by staff and residents alike, a simply delightful lady. Staff at the home were excited to be a part of making her dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to her, and they all wanted to see the smile on Heulwen’s face when once again she would be returning to the Edenbridge & Oxted Show at the age of 90 years young.
Staff first found out about Heulwen’s amazing life as a farmer when she came to live at Windmill Manor. It would be a dream for Heulwen to be able to go back and enjoy this show which remains very close to her heart once again. Ever since then, staff have been dedicated to helping her achieve it. Heulwen was also accompanied by her nephew David Lewis and his wife Amanda, who were there to witness this momentous occasion.
In response to this wonderful surprise, Heulwen, said: “The memories flowed through me, seeing the livestock was surreal and meeting the President Chairman 2023, Jan Boomaars was very special. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”
Ellie Lyons, General Manager at the home, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing. We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Windmill Manor. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here in making our residents’ dreams come true. It was wonderful to see how happy Heulwen was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
