Essex Fire Museum today hosted a dementia friendly open day with the Thurrock Dementia Action Alliance and the Alzheimer’s society.
Having received an invitation a couple of our residents took up the invite and we went for a look around the museum. Our residents enjoyed looking at the exhibits and when one of the crews brought out a modern engine, their focus turned from the past to the present.
They and the other visitors we then given a thorough tour of the engine, and all the equipment and its uses, that it carries. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff at the museum, and the smaller groups on the day meant that everyone’s questions were answered, and that a more personal touch was given to all those who attended.
And the weather was kind, warm and sunny which made for a very enjoyable visit all round.
