An evening with the Kyan Quartet

Residents, families and staff welcomed the Royal Academy of Music’s Kyan Quartet to Haven, featuring four exceptionally talented musicians from the UK, United States, China and France.

They were entertained with live performances of pieces ranging from the Sonderho Bridal Trilogy to one of Beethoven’s String Quartets, and the Capriol Suite by P. Warlock.

Widening musical participation and access is central to the Kyan Quartet’s artistic mission, particularly sharing music with families, young children, and people living with dementia.

Our residents were mesmerised by the music. Adrienne reminisced back to the time she played a violin, and Peter thoroughly enjoyed the performance, remembering his own musical endeavours.

“It was a therapeutic and entertaining evening, after which, residents and families had a chance to speak with the musicians,” said Anna Cap, Deputy Manager.

“Some residents conversed in French with one of the members of the Quartet, which was a real treat for them.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed the event and thank the Royal Academy of Music for sharing some of their best talent with us,” announced Peter Bharj, Home Manager.

“We hope to see the Kyan Quartet back at the Haven later this year.”
