Hello to all!
A big hello to all of our families old and new,
The last newsletter came out in January 2024, for those of our relatives that are used to getting the newsletter every quarter, apologies that a lot of the newsletter is repeated every time but these are key bits of information that our new relatives need to know and some people like a little refresh of. There is still a lot of content that is new too!
Also, if anyone changes their email address or wants to add a relative to the mailing list then please do let us know. hollysafeharbour2018@gmail.com
Welcome to our new families
A warm welcome to all of our new families that have joined the Safe harbour family. We hope you enjoy your new home. If there is anything we can do, just give us a call or email anyone of the team, you will find out that we are all very approachable and very responsive.
All of the contact details are on the end of the newsletter to let you know who is who and where to direct your questions too. Mostly you will need Either Dee or Mersey depending on what floor your relative is on. Dee is the residential floor downstairs deeunit2018@gmail.com and Mersey is the Nursing floor upstairs nursessafeharbour@gmail.com
Newspapers
We have had a few enquiries about Newspapers from both our ladies and gents and their relatives. We are happy for you to arrange for newspapers to be delivered to Safe Harbour from any newsagents you choose.
Thank you so much to those who have attended our family events each month, so much effort goes into these evenings to raise funds for singers etc. A big Thank you for the activities team for planning these events and giving up their evenings to do them. I know the Ladies and gents enjoy seeing some new faces.

Not a morsel left over and so many compliments especially for the Orange and ginger chicken, accompanied by wholegrain rice.
The Tempeh, sweet potato and spinach hotpot was lovely too. The hunter’s chicken, and vegan sausages were always going to go down well too. These items have now been added to the menus.

Church visits
A massive Thank you to Boris at SelFish Bromborough and his team for their generosity this evening at Safe Harbour Bebington!
As you can see the food is beautiful and went down so well across both Dee and Mersey floors.
Easter treats
Thank you so much to Village gym in Bromborough for supplying us with extra Easter eggs. It was really nice to be thought of and meant each person that are able to eat chocolate eggs received at least 2!
Education and support sessions
Education/support sessions - Kim will be running a quarterly session for relatives to attend and will be looking at education sessions such as Dementia, medications, End of Life. It will also be a good chance for relatives to talk about their experiences and share any positives or negatives. If you have any topics you would like Kim to discuss then please let us know and we can factor that in. Dementia is very difficult and as we all know it is a progressive disease, meaning things do not ‘get better’ but we can do our best to make sure our ladies and gents are happy, safe and comfortable.
The next one is 4th Sept 11am – in person at Safe Harbour.
Six Steps Accreditation
Six steps accreditation. This is the end-of-life tool we use (green, amber and red) 95% of our residents are on amber due to age and diagnosis of dementia, people only go onto red usually in their last few weeks/months of life. Very few people are on green, but we do have some people on green that are early on in their dementia journey. This accreditation has been a portfolio surrounding what we do with pain management and bereavement etc. This is something that could be in one of Kim’s training sessions.
Hairdresser
This is Liz our in-house hairdresser. Mrs. Liz Rogers works every other Tuesday to do the hair of anyone who wishes to have it done. (Next due 21st May 2024)
• Wash & Blow £8
• Cut & Blow £12
• Perm/Colour £23.50
• Gents Cut £6

Our Private Podiatrist is Mrs. Claire Davies. The appointments are usually every 6-8 weeks but can be sooner if required. Prices are now £25 but can be up to £50 if it is a one person call out. (next due 31st May)
We have weekly ward rounds with our GP surgery Civic Medical centre, if there is anything you would like to discuss then please let the nurses and seniors know so your relative can be put on the list to speak to the GP and they may call you to discuss further, you may want to pop in but we cannot guarantee a time slot. We can also contact the GP anytime for anything that can not wait until the next ward round.
Mother’s Day
We had a lovely time for Mother’s Day. It is really important to make the day special for everyone.
