The team at Sherrell House Care Home in Chigwell wanted to go bigger and better with their Christmas light display this year!

With a shared vision to put on a festive display that their care home community could marvel at, they worked in collaboration to make their home sparkle and shine this Christmas time.

With decorations adorning the walls inside the care home, it was time to focus on the outdoor decorations. Colourful string lighting illuminated the entrance to the home, and front-facing windows were filled with light-up festive shapes. The team also transformed their front garden by wrapping railings and trees with Christmas lights.

Now, all that was left to do was reveal their Christmas display at a switch-on event with their local community. In preparation for this, they set up a Christmas Market offering a variety of festive treats, including classic stollen bites, chocolate-covered apples, gingerbread cookies, and so much more.

On the day of their light switch-on, relatives, friends, and members of the community arrived in their numbers to celebrate the occasion. With a cold breeze blowing, mulled wine and hot chocolate was popular, keeping everyone warm as they sang Christmas songs with live entertainer, Jessica.

As the daylight faded, the team from Sherrell House led a countdown from 10 before revealing their Christmas light display. Everyone marveled at the moment their lights were switched on, especially people who were visiting for the first time!

“It's heartwarming to witness how the holiday season unites everyone in a spirit of joy and celebration! The incredible dedication our team put into this event is what makes it unforgettable for those living in our homes. Creating opportunities for people to forge lasting memories is the most fulfilling aspect of our work,” said Home Manager, Jane Maxwell.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate the countdown to Christmas and spread festive cheer amongst their local community!
