Tilu is the National Care Awards 2024 - Carer of the Year!

We are proud to reveal that our amazing carer assistant Tilu Ngwira has been named Carer of the Year in the National Care Awards 2024!

Tilu, who joined the team at Castlecroft in 2022, was recognised for the ‘magical connection’ he has formed with each of the residents, whom he often comes to see on his days off, bringing his children with him, because the residents love to see them. Tilu was described as a “rock for residents’ loved ones” as well as the residents themselves.

Tilu Ngwira said: "This award means the world to me. I owe it all to Castlecroft’s incredible residents and their loved ones, as well as my amazing work family, who inspire me every day.

“I came into the care sector from an administrative role because I wanted a career where I felt I could make a difference. I’ve found so much joy in caring for our residents. It’s an honour to be recognised for the love and passion I pour into my role and the people I’m privileged to support."

Adding to Sanctuary Care’s achievement, Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home in south west Birmingham, took the top title as the UK’s Care Home of the Year.

The judges praised the Bartley Green care team for their exceptional dedication to creating an engaging environment for the residents. From a thriving gardening club to cheese and wine evenings and lively reggae nights, the care home offers a vibrant programme of experiences that creates a truly enriching community for the residents.
