Why celebrate Valentines for just one day, when you can enjoy a whole week filled with love and laughter? Lucton House Care Home embraced the spirit of romance with a weeklong celebration!
We kicked off the week by getting creative and making beautiful decorations to set the mood for our upcoming party. Residents worked alongside staff to create stunning heart-shaped sun catchers, which now hang beautifully on our windows and ceilings. Each decoration was unique, made with a variety of colours and materials, adding a personal touch to our home.
On Tuesday, our residents gathered together to create heartwarming cards for their loved ones. It was a moment of reminiscence as each person shared cherished memories and reflected on the special relationships they hold dear.
By Wednesday, our creative energy was still flowing strong, so we moved on to making table decorations. Residents cut out mini hearts and scattered them on the tables, creating a romantic atmosphere. We also had fun crafting funny characters from pink and white paper, adding faces and personal messages to each one.
With all the preparations complete, it was time to celebrate! Abby and our kitchen team prepared an afternoon spread full of delicious finger sandwiches, biscuits, and red and pink-themed cakes with edible toppers. Although our booked singer had to cancel, our staff stepped up to keep the party going with a lively karaoke session.
Our home manager, Teresa, kicked things off with a classic love song, encouraging everyone to join in. Soon, a few residents took the stage, and Lucton House had its very own band! Teresa and our dear resident Roger shared a heartwarming duet, and our team danced with residents as love songs from popular movies filled the room.
It was an unforgettable afternoon full of fun, joy, and togetherness, one that will continue to inspire our future celebrations.
