Mother's Day first came into being way back in the Middle Ages, around a thousand years ago. A custom developed of letting people return to their home towns to visit their church and their mum on the fourth Sunday of the Christian festival of Lent. Over time, this became Mothering Sunday in Britain, and later Mother's Day. Whether it's by giving flowers, making a cake, or simply saying what you mean in a card, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday.
Today, at Tyspane Care Home residents have been treated to pamper sessions, flower arranging sessions, garden walks followed by a wonderful afternoon tea.
So, on this special day, be grateful for the memories of love, laughter and happiness.
