Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Hamilton Park Nursing Home in Taunton, Somerset.
Hamilton Park is an established nursing home that occupies a detached period property which has been extended, modified, and improved over the years, to provide accommodation for up to 34 residents across 32 bedrooms. It is ideally located on the edge of Taunton’s town centre.
The home has been owned by Sentimental Care Ltd since 2009 and was brought to market to enable the group’s owners to scale down their operations in the care sector. Following a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey at Christie & Co, it has been sold to expanding care operator, Kenmore Group, which now owns six homes across Somerset, Devon, Dorset, and Shropshire. The new owners plan to utilise the adjacent, currently unused property which they also purchased to create additional care home beds.
Tazmina Ellis, Director at Sentimental Care Ltd, comments, “Hamilton Park Nursing Home is in a great location with a lovely, homely feel to it. We made the decision to sell to concentrate on our other ventures.”
Kennedy Sabapathy, Director at Kenmore Group, comments, “Hamilton Park has a promising future with huge potential. The purchase of the next-door property brings new opportunities. We have also inherited a wonderful team of carers and managers to improve and increase the services and its profitability. This acquisition is a valuable addition to the growing Kenmore Group portfolio.”
Simon Harvey, Senior Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “The marketing of Hamilton Park, which generated extensive interest, is yet further evidence of the strength that exists for care home opportunities across the South West, especially where growth potential exists as was the case here. The market for care homes where they represent an opportunity for regional operators to expand their business, both through acquisition and extension, is very strong, and we continue to see this with other care homes that we are currently marketing and those that are under offer and have sales agreed on them.
“Although still only early in the year, all indications are that, following an exceptional year for care home transactions in 2024, we will see this maintained in 2025 and, indeed, very possibly surpassed.”
Hamilton Park was sold for an undisclosed price.
