Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Longlast, a learning disability home on the outskirts of Stockton-on-Tees.

Founded in 1997, Longlast is a well-established, ‘Outstanding’ rated, 11-bed residential care home for adults with learning disabilities and autism. It is ideally located in the village of Carlton on the outskirts of Stockton-on-Tees.

The home has been owned by Joanne and John Heslop since 2014 and was brought to market to enable them to retire.

Following a confidential sales process with Julie Kitson at Christie & Co, it has been sold to Potens which operates a wide range of specialist support and accommodation services across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. This acquisition marks an exciting expansion in the North East of England, the first for the region for some time.

Joanne Heslop, Former Owner and Director, comments, “We wish all of our wonderful employees, residents, and the Potens team the very best for the future.”

Nicki Stadames, Potens Chief Operating Officer, comments, “This acquisition, like others in recent times, reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, individualised care that empowers people to live fulfilling lives. Working with Joanne and John on the transition, and having met the team, I am genuinely excited for the journey ahead and all that I know we can achieve together to build on the fantastic work they have done so far.”

Julie Kitson, Director at Christie & Co, comments, “I have known John and Joanne since 2014, so it has been a pleasure to act on their behalf in selling their family business and helping them to retire. I am sure Potens will continue with the excellent reputation the business has acquired over the years.

“We are seeing strong demand for this type of business throughout the North of England, and I expect this to continue for the rest of the year.”

Longlast was sold for an undisclosed price.
