After a monthly meeting with our residents, one resident suggested an outing to the park to enjoy the breath of fresh air. As they pointed out, there’s nothing quite like spring’s fresh air, and it would be lovely to see if the daffodils had started to bloom. This suggestion sparked excitement among everyone, and the activity team, along with some of our carers, quickly got to work to make this park trip happen.
The team organised a walk to Chestnut Park, our local park, where residents could enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, explore the outdoor gym, and, of course, pick some daffodils. The fresh air and the sight of the spring flowers created a truly joyful atmosphere. It was a perfect day to get outside, stretch our legs, and connect with nature.
Once we arrived at the park, residents took a gentle walk around, taking great joy in picking the flowers, some even bunching them together to create beautiful bouquets. One resident mentioned that spring was their favourite time of year, and they loved gathering daffodils into big flower bunches. It was clear that this activity brought back fond memories of their younger years, spending time outdoors in the spring.
We all sat down at the park’s cafe for a much needed break. We enjoyed a nice cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate while chatting with each other. The smiles on everyone’s faces as they sipped their drinks and shared stories showed just how meaningful this experience was.
This trip to the park was a beautiful reminder of how special it is to get outside and enjoy the world around us, especially when shared with others. It brought our residents a sense of happiness and fulfilment that will be remembered for a long time.
