HC-One Scotland’s Darnley Court Care Home, in Glasgow, was brimming with joy and festive spirit this Easter, as residents, staff, and families came together for a memorable weekend of celebrations.

From a lively Easter Party on Saturday, April 19, at Beaton House to an exciting Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, the care home created unforgettable moments that left everyone with smiles and lasting memories. The Easter Party, organised by Darnley Court’s dedicated wellbeing team, transformed the lounge into a vibrant springtime haven.

Wellbeing Coordinators Christine McLemon and Stephanie McKnight adorned the space with colourful Easter-themed decorations and arranged a delightful buffet featuring an array of snacks, cakes, and beverages. Residents showcased their creativity by wearing handmade Easter bonnets, crafted in the weeks leading up to the event, adding a personal touch to the festive atmosphere.

The highlight of the party was a dynamic performance by entertainer Sharon Stevens, whose infectious energy had everyone singing and dancing. Residents and staff joined a spirited conga line, and the crowd erupted in cheers as Darnley Court colleagues performed a special dance for the residents.

On Easter Sunday, the care home’s communal gardens became the setting for a thrilling Easter Egg Hunt. Residents from all communities, along with families, participated in the fun-filled competition, wearing colourful Easter bags and hats as they eagerly collected eggs scattered across the gardens.

Colleagues assisted residents, ensuring everyone could join in the excitement. Prizes were awarded to all participants, with those on special diets receiving a delicious mousse alternative to traditional Easter eggs.

Afterward, everyone gathered in the garden to enjoy refreshing drinks, tasty snacks, and lively music, basking in the beautiful spring weather and heartwarming conversations. Each resident was personally greeted with Easter wishes and a special egg, making everyone feel included in the festivities.

Laura McCormack, HC-One Scotland’s Darnley Court Wellbeing Practitioner, stated:

“It was heartwarming to see our residents light up with joy during the Easter Party. Creating these tailored, engaging moments helps foster connection and happiness, and watching everyone sing, dance, and share in the celebration was truly special."
