What a lot we've had going on at Chestnut Lodge recently!
London Marathon - while runners pounded the streets of the capital during this year's race, residents at Chestnut Lodge were busy taking part in their own unique version. Though far away from the big smoke, their spirit and determination were just as strong as they took part in a series of activities designed to get them moving in their own mini marathon. Some walked around the home, two went to Yeovil Country Park and the majority did some step exercises while sat in their chairs. By calculating average step rates and distances, the total distance walked came to an impressive 2.1 miles. This is a remarkable achievement and a true testament to the determination and spirit of the Chestnut Lodge residents at their best.
Origami - A fascinating discussion about origami and its origins in Japan sparked interest among staff and residents. It was followed by the chance create and name their own origami dogs. Others took part in a jar-decorating workshop, crafting beautiful decorations for their bedrooms.
Barry's birthday - Resident Barry enjoyed a special morning at Montacute House with his wife to celebrate his 76th birthday. The couple enjoyed coffee and cake at the stately home venue before heading back to Chestnut Lodge where a special birthday cake awaited.
Nine Springs - Taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather, residents enjoyed a walk through Nine Springs Country Park, followed by a cuppa in the sun. They loved watching the children play and taking in the sights and sounds of the season, admiring all the spring trees in bud and birds around the ponds.
Herb garden - Following a request from residents for a herb garden to care for, the activities team decided to make it happen. After a lot of hard work, the residents came out to inspect the area before the herbs were planted. It's over to them to maintain and look after their special little area at Chestnut Lodge.
