We all love a pamper and the residents of Cambridge care home, Waterbeach Lodge, are no exception. That’s why care home manager Lynn Ward hit on an inspiring idea: why not create an in-house spa, hair salon and treatment centre just for them?
The Waterbeach spa is now officially open and residents are loving the range of treatments available - from revivifying face masks to hair and scalp treatments, foot spas and manicures.
Therapist Eliana is one of the Waterbeach House team and she loved sharing her skills with the residents in her care.
“Their reaction was overwhelming,” said Lynn Ward. “What was so moving was that this is what they deserve, and we were so thrilled to be able to bring it to them. It was a great day."
Resident Grace thoroughly enjoyed her manicure. She said: “My treatment was excellent – very relaxing and sociable. I’ll definitely be back for more!”
Part of the AgeCare Care Homes portfolio, Waterbeach Lodge caters for a maximum of 46 residents, offering live-in or short-term (respite) care for older people, with a specialist dementia wing. This purpose-built care home, constructed on the site of a former Carmelite nunnery, is situated on Ely Road, Waterbeach, six miles from Cambridge city centre.
