The team at Lister House were awarded the Chief Nursing Officer award for services to Social Care. This is a national award which comes directly from the Department of Health and Social Care. It was presented by Professor Deborah Sturdy, Chief Nurse for Adult and Social Care.
Lister House was nominated because of the extraordinary contribution to the UK Covid vaccination effort by developing a nurse-led care home vaccination programme, enabling staff working within the care home to vaccinate their own residents and staff.
Residents of Lister House were primary in leading the drive of the vaccination campaign, this collaborative working resulted in a higher than average vaccination of both residents and staff.
"This critical safety work sets a quality standard for care homes across the United Kingdom, and demonstrated the team's tenacity, commitment and foresight towards veterans, their families, and their carers."
