Care and Support West Awards 2024 - Stratton House

Recipient: Stratton House

Date: Monday 07 Oct 2024

A staff member at MHA Stratton House has won an award for his services as a chef working in social care.

Jonathan Hunter has been working as a chef at the Bath home for 12 years and was nominated by his colleagues at the Care and Support West Awards 2024.

Jonathan won the award in the front line workers category and despite being a chef for more than 35 years, it's the first he has received such an award.

The ceremony was held at the Ashton Gate Stadium where Jonathan was the only representative of MHA.

MHA Stratton House offers residential care for 33 residents

Speaking after the award ceremony he said:” It’s a lovely feeling to have won the award, and I am immensely proud.

“I never thought I'd win, just to receive a nomination was enough and it feels extra special that my colleagues were the ones that put me forward for the award.

“Sometimes, working in the kitchen and other areas of care homes that aren't directly linked to care, can feel like you are an unsung hero.

“Awards like this, where other roles are highlighted can help to motivate and encourage others to work in care homes

“Working at MHA Stratton House is great, I really enjoy working with older people and the support you receive from the management is very helpful.

“It's the first time I have won an award like this, so I am very happy with that.

“I was told that I am the first person from the home and the first from MHA to win this award, and that again makes me feel very proud.”
