Gold Standard Framework Award - Stocks Hall Care Home, St Helens

Recipient: Stocks Hall Care Home, St Helens

Date: Monday 28 Oct 2013

Our Care Homes in both St Helens and Nelson (Andrew Smith House) are celebrating after receiving a National Award recognising the Gold Standard of Care they provide for the people who live with them.

The two Homes, one in Elderflower Road, St Helens and the other in Marsden Hall Road North, Nelson fully delivered the levels required for the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) in Care Homes Quality Hallmark Awards.

Sue Lace, Managing Director of the Stocks Hall Care Group said “I am so proud of Stocks Hall staff in achieving this award. Levels of Care need to be of high standards and I am so pleased Stocks Hall reflect this”.

GSF helps organisations like the Stocks Hall Care Group in the provision of excellent care when the people living with us approach the end of their lives. This increases the opportunity to honour their final wishes within a preferred place of care – their chosen Care Home.

In achieving this award, both Homes had to specifically demonstrate their ability to meet strict criterias in a total of 20 different areas.

Increasing numbers of people are being cared for in a compassionate and personalised way which means care can be given, where, when and how they request it. We are extremely proud to play a significant part in that transformation.

Maggie Stobbart-Rowlands, GSF National Centre Lead Nurse, said, “Homes like Stocks Hall St Helens and Andrew Smith House in Nelson are a beacon for others to follow, offering the sort of care we would want for ourselves or our loved ones.”

Receiving the Award as examples of best practice are (pictured from left to right), Val Lawson Manager of Stocks Hall Nelson, Sean Speakman – Care Assistant and Julie Gaskell – Manager of Stocks Hall St Helens.

The Quality Hallmark awards were presented by Alan Rosenbach, Policy Lead for Care Quality Commission (CQC). He said: “At the CQC we place great value on the work of the GSF. The vital importance in increasing standards of palliative care to people approaching the end of their life and their families, can hardly be overstated.”

The public can be assured that as Stocks Hall Care Homes are accredited with the Gold Standard Framework, their loved ones will be cared for with the Gold quality of care they so rightly deserve.
