View Full Details of Winchester HouseOur mum has been at Winchester House since May 2024 and she has had superb care from all the staff. All are incredibly kind and caring. The home is not typical of a care home and has the feel of a guest house which is very homely and comfortable. Her room is large and full of light and the carers sit and chat with her often. My sister and I are very happy with her care and she has settled in well.
My Dad was looked after fantastically and he couldn't have asked for more. He said that the food and help on offer was superb. The staff couldn't have done anymore to help him, and he speaks of them as friends. The love and support shown by the team was second to none, and I recommend this home to anyone.
The best staff you will find, very kind and helpful. Nice rooms, very clean. Good selection of food. I cannot fault this home!
My mother-in-law has been in Winchester House for over a month now. The home is excellent. Staff could not do any more for my mother-in-law. She seems much happier than when she was on her own in her own bungalow. The food is always freshly cooked. The staff are extremely friendly and are caring for her with compassion and empathy. I cannot fault them.
My mother has been a resident of Winchester House since November but WOW how lucky was I to find a home like this for my mother. She is so well looked after, nothing is too much trouble, extremely good food, telly in her room, well heated, again extremely clean. Could not have asked for more. The staff are so patient and friendly and only too happy to give my Mother some company when she feels a bit down through her dementia. I have found a truly lovely home which gives me peace of mind when I leave her. I have to say the size of the home which is eight rooms adds to the homely feel you get when you walk through the door. Well done to all at Winchester House and thank you for looking after my Mother like you do.
My aunt, who has severe dementia, has been in Winchester House for many years now. Sadly, she is now bed-bound and limited in her ability to communicate, but she is content at Winchester House and has a good relationship with all of the staff. She is well looked after in a very caring way and the relatively low turnover of staff helps enormously with stability for her. The staff are lovely and really care for their residents. When she was able to be out and about the home, the small size worked well for her.
Mum has been a resident at Winchester House for just over a year. During this time she has been well looked after and cared for with dignity by both staff and management. She enjoys being in Winchester House and wishes to remain in the home. She feels valued and is well looked after. She enjoys the activities which she attends, and she enjoys the company of both staff and fellow residents. The staff and management are both knowledgeable about the care which Mum needs and as family members we are informed of any problems/illnesses that have arisen. We are happy with the care and the safe environment which Mum is in.
Dad seems happy enough, settled in well, so very pleased with visiting experiences, staff friendly and helpful.
Winchester House has been my mother's home for the past 6 years. My mother is well cared for and always happy.
I moved my mum, into Winchester House at very short notice. I was a little bit anxious about the change from leaving a large care home to a small facility, I needn't of worried from the very first day all my worries fell away. The staff are excellent 1 to 1 care it is like she is in her own home, she has thrived since being under their care, and it is so nice visiting her we are offered tea and can relax and stay as long as we like. When leaving I feel happy that she is in good hands, I would recommend the home to anyone who asks me about my mum's care.
We have an intelligent, feisty and wonderful mum who has both dementia and alzheimers, with very complex needs. She has always been treated with respect, humanity, and humour and most importantly, we have always felt she has been a valued resident. Each person is treated entirely as an individual and given the best care possible. My father was also a resident, and throughout his illness and confusion during covid was given everything possible to both extend and enrich his stay there. The staff are unfailingly polite, open and welcoming. Every time we ring, and wish to take mum out, she is dressed and ready when we arrive. This is a small home, but, as we were advised, such homes are like gold dust, rarely encountered, and able to know their residents and be ready to offer care which is tailored to their individual need.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the manager and staff who are currently looking after my father. Their hard work and love for him has been more than my brother and I could ever have wished for. Thank you all very much.
Mum entered this lovely care home in November 2022 as she now requires 24-hour care. It was a very hard decision to make but from the first visit, I was struck by how small, welcoming and homely Winchester House is. I was worried Mum wouldn't settle as she didn't want to leave her own home but everyone of the staff have gone above and beyond welcoming her and getting to know her so she feels safe and cared for. The staff do a wonderful job reassuring her and her care is met with kindness and warmth. She has been here ten weeks now and enjoys the view of the lovely garden from her room and has started to chat to other residents after the regular sing-a-long sessions. I visit often and am always made welcome but feel safe in the knowledge that when I am not with her she is receiving the best of care.
My Mother joined this small care home in June 2016 but sadly passed away in August 2016. I am so glad we managed to find this home, she was looked after, better than I could ever have done by myself. Although she didn't want to leave her own home, she was soon made one of the family and enjoyed a little joke and chat with the girls. Although her stay was short, I'm sure she would have been happy there, as she told me this herself shortly before she passed away. Big thanks to all the staff.
