View Full Details of Charlton Kings Care HomeThe staff at Charlton Kings Care Home are truly amazing - I have always called them mum's angels without wings! My mum went into the care home in April 2022 and sadly passed away in December 2024. She had dementia and was so incredibly well looked after by all the staff who were cheerful, smiling, kind, considerate and thoughtful. They treated mum with huge respect and with great affection, she loved them, and as dementia began to further take control of her, the staff helped us to navigate her final years as we witnessed her struggle with loss of memories and independence as heartbreaking as it was humbling. While the experience of dementia tested our strength as a family, it also deepened our bond, supported by the manager and the wonderful team at the care home. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and whilst our mum is now at peace, free from the struggles of this world, Charlton Kings Care Home and their excellent team will remain forever in our hearts.
Choosing Charlton Kings Care Home, led by the Manager and supported by an excellent team, was one of the best decisions we made for my mother-in-law's wellbeing. The staff at the care home are warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They treated her with dignity and respect, which was so important as her Dementia worsened The staff not only provided expert care for her physical needs but also made sure she felt comfortable and safe. Their understanding of dementia and the challenges it brings was evident in everything they did but what stood out the most was the emotional support we received as a family. In the final months of her life, we were grateful for the kindness, patience, and empathy the staff showed not only to her but to all of us. If you're looking for a place where your loved ones will receive exceptional care and kindness during their most vulnerable moments, I highly recommend Charlton Kings Care Home.
I told someone Dad was spending a week at Charlton Kings Care Home, whilst we were on holiday, and they said I'd made the best choice. There is no doubt this was correct and I have not seen a happier home. The staff's training must be excellent as they are all cheerful and thoroughly pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt they cared for Dad. I've already put my name down for the future.
Whenever I visit Charlton Kings Care Home I am greeted by the most delicious smell of lunch cooking as well as by friendly, welcoming staff. The common areas and clients' rooms are clean and well looked after. The staff at all levels are helpful, chatty and kind. All in all, a great place to visit.
Charlton Kings Carehome has a very warm and welcoming family atmosphere. Very attentive staff and manager. Good communication when necessary and an open door policy 24/7. All needs are attended to with an open and honest approach.
Our experience is that all of the staff are so cheerful, helpful and professional. They know individual's needs and preferences so encourage Mum's independence, but 1:1 support is always on hand whenever she needs it. From visits and the excellent, responsive online communication system, I am reassured that Mum is getting the best possible care in a homely, lively environment.
The staff are amazing, very kind to my mum and all the other residents. They take the time to engage with Mum and make her laugh. There are daily activities which involve everyone and provides stimulation for the residents. The staff make me feel very welcome when I visit and are always extremely helpful. My Mum is safe and well cared for. A big thank you to you all.
Excellent, friendly service as ever and good attention to any medical needs for the resident, plus we are always kept informed of any such details. Families and friends of residents are always made to feel very welcome at all times.
The carers are kind, patient and caring, doing their best in an extremely challenging role. I would like to see the carers doing less paperwork so they have more time to chat with the residents and get to know each individual, maybe each carer being assigned to four/six residents. The home is warm, and sometimes, the nice smells coming from the kitchen make it feel inviting. In the better weather, the use of the large garden should be encouraged.
My lovely friend resides at Charlton Kings Care Home and is the happiest she has ever been. Staff are polite and happy every time I have visited. I couldn’t praise the home enough for all they have done for my friend and how welcome they make visitors to the home. They always put the residents at the heart of what they do. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for care for a loved one. The home always smells incredible too, which is a huge bonus!
The joyful kindness of all the staff; the engaged faces of residents; the fun activities in the lounge most afternoons; the homely, relaxed atmosphere; the delicious cakes offered with tea; this is a happy environment in which to feel safe and cared for when living independently is no longer possible. Visitors are always welcome and included in the fun.
My mother has been a permanent resident for two months. Despite her failing memory and instability on her feet, she has been treated as a valued individual both in the respect shown to her and the care afforded to her. The home is well managed by the manager and ably supported by her senior team. All of the carers are very kind, polite and friendly. As a GP working overseas, from what I have observed first-hand, I have every confidence in their ability to adapt in response to an individual resident's needs.
On behalf of my sister and brother, I would like to thank all the staff at Charlton Kings for looking after our mum for the last 15 months of her life. Mum celebrated her 100th birthday there. It was a difficult time having Covid in the home, but myself, my daughter and the great-grandchildren were able to be with mum, in our PPE. My sister went in the day before and decorated the lounge with bunting, balloons and flowers and Mum had a lovely surprise when she saw us. The catering staff baked a super cake for her and came in singing “Happy Birthday“ to her. We even had a glass of champagne. Mum was virtually blind during her last few months a scary thing to happen to anyone, but the staff were so kind and caring and made sure Mum was comfortable and in familiar surroundings. Staff included Mum in any activities. Mum had visitors every week, my brother and sister-in-law, my sister and her good friend and the staff were always attentive and supportive. The home was always very clean and smelled fresh.
My wonderful mother spent the last five years of her life at Charlton Kings care home. She was made to feel special and loved and the staff became both her carers and her friends. She was part of their family. The care home has a reputation for being a personable and homely care home, and it was certainly that. My mother loved everything about it, the staff, the food, the events, the smiles. Thank you so much for looking after my mother through the last years of her life and for going above and beyond in every way. You are all amazing and special people and my brother and I cannot thank you enough. In my mother's own words: "I am extraordinarily happy here."
Charlton Kings Care Home looked after my father for over eighteen months until he passed peacefully in February 2022. Throughout his time there he was cared for not just professionally but in a very personal way by all the staff. There wasn't anything that was too much for them to do for him. I commend it to you most wholeheartedly.
My mother-in-law was really lucky to spend another respite period in Charlton Kings Care Home. On her return, all of the staff were so friendly and chatty with my mother-in-law. We have such peace of mind that at 99-years-old she is not only receiving excellent care but in a very professional, caring and friendly way. It gives us so much peace of mind to know that we are leaving her in capable hands. She really loves the social activity and being able to mix and have some fun with the other residents and carers. She always says that the food is excellent, and her room is bright, and she has everything that she needs. She particularly likes to use some of the add on services like having her hair done. When I left Mum this time, it was a special 100th birthday for one of the residents with a Hawaiian theme. The main rooms were decked out in flower garlands and bunting, and Hawaiian music was playing, and there was a real atmosphere of fun and celebration, and Mum settled in to enjoy the fun.
Mum (age 99) has just had a weeks respite care at Charlton Kings Care Home. She has returned home happy and full of praise for the staff and all the variety of activities that she was able to take part in. She needs a lot of help and the staff are kind, caring, supportive and professional. The online service is brilliant! It allowed communication between family and Mum and staff, sending messages and photos. We have complete peace of mind, knowing Mum is in excellent hands and having a good time! Thank you all so much.
Mum resided at Charlton Kings Care Home for the last few years of her life and throughout that time incredible patience, kindness and compassion were shown by all the staff. It has been a great comfort knowing that Mum was treated with kindness and dignity right up to her final moments.
From the start, I was impressed with the care and kindness received by my mum from the staff at Charlton Kings Care Home. At 100 years old, the combination of her strong character and failing cognition, along with extremely reduced sight and hearing, presented challenges at times regarding her care, to which the staff rose with a compassionate understanding and professional expertise. Everything was made much more complicated by the Covid lockdown, but visits were carefully facilitated to comply with regulations, allowing the inevitable constraints not to become too distressing. When Covid did enter the home, the staff went above and beyond to deal with the situation, at times becoming ill themselves but returning to work as soon as it was safe to do so. It was a great comfort to feel that Mum continued to receive a high standard of care when visits had to cease, and when she contracted and passed away from Covid, the dignity and respect afforded to her was of the highest order. Grateful thanks.
The staff are very caring, respectful and kind, lead by a great management team. Resident’s birthdays are always marked with a special cake to share. Plenty of activities are organised, lots of social occasions are celebrated, and the food is home-cooked with love. My mum was happy there and very well cared for, giving us, her family, great peace of mind. Who could want for more!
