View Full Details of WhitegatesRecently, I had the pleasure of visiting my friend at Whitegates, and was so impressed by how much he had achieved. If I needed somewhere to recover, I'd choose this care home. The staff were kind and respectful and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Outstanding care home. We visited and had Christmas Lunch with our friend who we have POA for. The staff always make us feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for either the resident or the visitor. So pleased we found this care home and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone in need cof are services.
Very good.
We moved a friend who was 80 years old, was incapable of being alone and had early signs of dementia from a home in Lincolnshire to Whitegates due to location. The friend's wife died and we had POA as they had no family. Being 8 miles away makes it easy for us to visit 3 times a week on average. Whitegates couldn't be a better home for him. If we had to go into a home we would very happily live at Whitegates. (I think my wife is trying to get me a booking for me behind my back.) I have been to several care homes visiting relatives over the past 10 years and Whitegates is by far the best I have ever experienced. The staff are caring and empathetic and they have enough of them (most homes seem to be understaffed), many with a lot of service years - so much experience. Excellent facilities, lovely rooms, great food - it really is like a 5-star hotel. Exceptionally well managed by a great team.
Whitegates is well maintained and regularly upgraded, which keeps it looking very pleasant and clean. My father is extremely well cared for and the staff are kind, friendly and treat him like family. The entertainment on offer is very interactive with great trips out and wonderful performers. Families are always invited to take part if they would like to, and I couldn't wish for a better care home to look after my dad.
This is a wonderful place. Superb care and smiling attentive staff at all times. No better care Anywhere! My husband, who is a stroke survivor, has made significant progress, particularly with his mobility. I cannot thank the staff enough.
This place is a godsend! Wonderful dedicated staff. Friendly and firm.Great relationships with the residents. Lots of fun and laughter in many and varied activities yet also caring for the individual.
Having visited my mother today, I was delighted to get some feedback from one of her regular carers, which was positive and good to hear. Whitegates is a very caring environment.
Good to see Mum so well cared for by caring members of staff. Thank you.
I have always found the staff and management very helpful and knowledgeable. They are always cheerful and willing to listen if the time is available. There is always a cup of tea available should we want one and a piece of cake. The entertainment ladies are always engaging and involve my wife and I, in almost everything they do. Love the fact that the building is being updated and brighter.
My mother came into Whitegates just for respite so we could have a holiday. When Mom came home, she asked to go back to Whitegates as she felt safe and happy there. The staff are all wonderful and that's everyone to include kitchen staff, cleaners, laundry... people we don't really see. Nothing is too much trouble for them. To myself, when I visit, it's like visiting my mom at home with a nice cuppa and chat. Care is also given by the owner, she always has time.
Being a Nurse of 35 years specialising in dementia, I am aware of the policies and procedures that need to be in place to keep people safe. I needed to know that my lovely husband would be loved and given an extended family experience. On my first visit to Whitegates, I was met at the door by the smiling face of a staff member and a cheery 'Hello' The Home had a warm glow of welcome about it from my first foot inside. I observed lots of activity going on and happy chatter between Residents and staff. There was a feeling of well-being. My husband, who has dementia, has been there for three months now. He is happy and is well-occupied with appropriate activities that have been identified to his individual needs. He maintains a dignified appearance and his good-natured sense of humor is encouraged by the staff. He loves and is loved, at Whitegates where he is treated with dignity and respect in an environment that understands his and my needs and aspirations for his future life plan.
My mother-in-law stayed here at Whitegates Bromyard recently, initially for a two-week stay to see how she liked it. Unfortunately, her second week was cut short due to a nasty fall which needed an emergency visit to Hereford hospital where they identified a bleed on the brain. During her limited time at Whitegates family members visited most days to see that she was okay and whilst we acknowledge that Whitegates had a "Outstanding" assessment by Care Quality Commission back in 2018, the family were disappointed in some aspects of the care provided. One specific area of concern was how frequently we observed staff members using their mobile phones and watching TV when they should have used this time to interact with their residents. This unfortunately was witnessed all too often by family visitors. Not the best experience but sadly probably a very common experience for many living in a care home these days. I'm glad to report that my mother-in-law has now recovered from her injury.
My husband spent three months in this wonderful home. He suffered from dementia but was able to join in the activities provided - a ride in a canal boat, tea dance, music, etc. He enjoyed living there and was so happy. The food was excellent, the staff caring, and the residents always looked cared for! He was always treated with dignity and respect. He, unfortunately, died after suffering from a stroke. The end-of-life care, kindness and sympathetic treatment of relatives will never be forgotten.
My father was at Whitegates from August to December 2022. He loved his time there. He was beautifully cared for, he always looked smart, shaved and showered. He loved mixing with all the residents, teasing the staff and all the different activities. In his final days, the care and love he received from the staff were exceptional and the sympathy, care and understanding that his wife and daughters were shown by the staff, will always remain with us as a very cherished memory. I can not recommend Whitegates and its staff more highly.
I am the sister-in-law of the resident who was born with Down's syndrome and now has dementia, her age is 67. It took my sister-in-law a while to settle but she is fine now and well looked after. One slip, my sister-in-law walks about a lot and she walked out of their main door at 12:30 pm some weeks ago, she walked about a quarter of a mile to the local pub in our town. It has been all sorted out now. Then just four weeks later, I visited at 3 pm to find a gentleman outside, door open again. That has been all sorted out now. Thank goodness.
My mum moved to Whitegates in January. The room she has is lovely, always clean and comfy. The staff are all very friendly and do their best to help Mum with all her day-to-day problems. It is so good to know Mum is safe day and night.
Mum is well cared for at Whitegates. The staff are kind and courteous and they all seem dedicated to caring for the residents. Mum's room is always clean and tidy. When visiting I am always made very welcome and never feel that I am in the way.
Whitegates does a fantastic job. The staff have a wonderful relationship with my mother and the care they provide is faultless. She has a lovely sunny room and although she is not able to participate in activities, they are always on offer. The food is very good too!
I went away a few times in June 2022 and never once had to worry about my husband. He's been in Whitegates more than 13 years and would not want to be anywhere else. He knows all the staff, and (importantly) they know him well and cope with his moods and occasional aggression. He is always clean and well-presented, and the staff attend fairly quickly when he needs help. They are unfailingly patient with him and actually seem to care, not just because they are paid to do so.
