View Full Details of Friary HouseFrom my first encounter with the staff at Friary House I felt sure that my dad was in the safest of hands. Dad was extremely well cared for - personal care was fantastic, activities were amazing (birds of prey, chicks, sheep, ice cream van, trips out, fish and chips to name a few). Dietary requirement met (delicious lunches, snacks, great variety). Health - regular visits from nurse practitioner and great communication at all times. All the staff have been incredible and I am so grateful for their kindness to my dad and my family too. An amazing team.
My mother spent the last four weeks of her life in Friary House. She was well cared for by kind and compassionate staff. This kindness was extended to her family and we were able to visit at any time. The end-of-life care given by the manager and staff was exemplary and went a long way in easing my mother's final days and hours. Knowing that she was in such a kind and caring home was very reassuring for us all.
The care home are there for the residents, organising activities and trips out. My mother has thrived while living here and the staff are very attentive to the residents’ needs. The home is always welcoming, exceptionally clean and smells very pleasant. My sister and I were very relieved when we walked into the home on a fact finding mission to find a suitable home for our mother. The other homes weren’t a patch on Friary House. It has made mum’s and our lives very happy.
U cannot describe the feeling of great reassurance we feel as a family knowing that our grandmother/mother is at Friary House. The care and compassion the staff have to give is immense.
We chose Friary House as my mother's new home four years ago, having viewed a number of other care homes across Weymouth. We made the right decision. The standard of care that the team provide is simply outstanding. The staff have supported Mum's needs as an individual and kept me fully informed and involved - giving me complete confidence that mum is safe and able to enjoy her daily life. Friary is light and airy and isn't as large as some other homes, so the staff are able to make it feel like a family home. Mum has taken part in frequent activities ranging from arts and crafts, themed events and musical entertainment (she loves to sing) and even had the chance to interact with birds of prey! Cleanliness, maintenance, home-cooked food and personal care are all excellent. The staff and management are very approachable. Mum feels 'loved' and cared for. The staff should take credit for making Friary such a wonderful, safe home for Mum through to end-of-life care.
Thanks to the patience and willing helpfulness of the staff, I have arranged regular garden visits with Dad since May, whether a summer's evening beer together, an early morning visit before lunch or enjoying an afternoon in the sun, the staff never seem inconvenienced. Given the time needed to get Dad organised and to help him on to the decking, the staff are always welcoming. Often my dad asks how I found this 'gem'. The atmosphere is warm, homely and intimate. Most of the staff have been there for many years and they all seem to know him well. A real gem.
The highest standard of care and healthcare was constantly provided to Mum over four and a half years. The environment is one of care, warmth, and friendship - as a home should be - and is combined with great attention to detail. It was Mum's home and she was very happy there. This is the best healthcare and care culture that I have seen and experienced.
This is a very caring home. All the staff treat the residents with great kindness, dignity and respect. They consulted us whenever they wanted to, in regards to something in my husband's care. He was very content and enjoyed the various activities. Noting his life had been at sea, they enhanced his life by taking him out for coffee where he could see the marina and boats. Also, to the esplanade to walk and see the sea. They also provided videos and CD's about ships, boats and watched them with him. As a family, we are very grateful for the care he was given and understanding when his health deteriorated.
The staff are always smiling at whatever time of day. They will ring the GP if anything is amiss with the service users. They contact families for updates and look after the service users with any problems/anxiety/illness etc immediately. I've booked my room already.
My Aunt was very reluctant to move into a care home as it meant admitting she could no longer cope. Friary House have done everything possible to make this a positive experience and looked after her brilliantly. Thank you.
I can't believe how safe and happy I am living here. The food, staff plus the good company plus the cat who keeps us company day and night.
I'm happy. Love it when my daughter comes for lunch. My room is lovely, the staff are wonderful. Most of all I'm happy.
My sister has been very happy here. She has all she needs. The staff are so friendly and caring. She never complains in fact just the reverse! Whenever I visit I am greeted with a friendly smile.
Staff show human kindness and treat residents as individuals. There is a genuine sense of team spirit. Flexibility and welcome show to family and visitors is much appreciated. A homely atmosphere in the best sense. A "very good" box would have been useful for all questions below. For "good" read "very good" in most instances.
Mum was treated with absolute love, dignity and respect. She had comfort and companionship. As a family, we were kept informed of every aspect of her call.
A truly welcoming and caring home. The management team and staff were always kind to residents and always mindful of the resident's needs and preferences, treating them with dignity and respect at all times. They treated the family of residents with kindness and respect, were always polite and engaging. Activities were frequent for residents both in and out of the home and inclusive of relatives. I would have no hesitation in recommending Friary House for residential care.
My Mother was a resident at Friary House. The staff were always friendly and went above and beyond for my mother. The home is clean. The food is all home cooked and the cakes lovely.
My Godmother has been extremely happy living at Friary House since she moved there in July 2018. She is very happy with all aspects of her care, as am I. The staff are friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We couldn't find a better home for her.
Friary House is homely, the staff are friendly. The rooms are always clean and my friend has become a lot happier since she moved in over a year ago. It's good to know the care in the home has made an improvement to her well being.
My mother has been here for about 6 years. Her health has deteriorated over the years due to her dementia. All this time, even when her mental health was challenging, she has been treated with kindness respect and dignity. A very homely residence.
