View Full Details of Prince of Wales Nursing HomeMom entered the care home 3 years ago, at the time visiting was very much regulated due to Covid. My biggest concern was that mom was used to daily contact with myself, because while her dementia progressed she frequently refused to take food from anyone other than myself. The manager was completely reassuring and established safe visiting for me to carry on with this routine. And this is a reflection of how things continue to run in this home - any concerns are addressed immediately and resolved. Excellent care is provided by a small team - always the same faces, who know the residents very well. Kindness and dignity is at the forefront. The residents have 3 communal areas in which they spend their daytime, with music or films. Residents are encouraged to take part in daily activities, for which there is dedicated staff member for a morning program. Relatives are warmly welcomed to join in the many organised events or if weather permits to sit in the newly established courtyard terrace.
My Dad has been a resident at Prince of Wales for a couple of years now & after a bad experience with his last home. I thank god we found The Prince of Wales! From the minute he went there we have been happy with how he is looked after, he is treated with love, dignity & respect by all of the staff there, and it feels like we're all One big family at Prince of Wales! There's always a party going on & every month there's a live work celebration where we the family, the staff & the residents all get together to celebrate something from the month, whether it's a birthday or promotion or anything! The entertainment & activities lady does a great job making sure there's always something going on for everyone, I was really impressed with a memory game she played with the residents recently where she got them to recall memories from their lives, it was so interesting to hear the memories they recalled. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone, thank you to everyone at POW.
The food is good and it is clean enough. Only basic needs are met, nothing for the residents to do, occasional "party". There's no stimulation, no daily activities. Just sitting around looking at four walls. Very large TV in the lounge but it only seems to play an online music channel, more for the staff than the residents. I've never seen any programmes on for the residents to watch. There is the occasional film night (not often). My aunt has gone downhill since arriving here and has been very unhappy, she often says that there is nothing to do. The resident's rooms are basic and tired-looking. There's no outside space, residents never get any fresh air. For reasons out of our control, we never got to visit this home beforehand. My Aunt has now been moved and is very happy with lots of activities for her to do and daily fresh air.
My mother was only at Prince of Wales Nursing Home for a few weeks before she passed. I cannot thank the staff enough. They were loving and caring to us all. Mom retained her dignity even when she passed. The empathy and compassion for us as a family was outstanding. Whilst there they encouraged my father and family to visit as much as possible. We participated in activities and events with my mother making ever-lasting memories. We were constantly informed about mom's situation and the care she received was exceptional. If mom didn't fancy something on the menu they would tempt her to eat with things they knew she liked. On her final day, all the family were accommodated. Every member of staff asked if they could say goodbye. We were not alone we were part of a family. I will never be able to thank the staff enough as they made a devastating event bearable.
Mum has been a resident of Prince of Wales Nursing Home since December 2022 and has been consistently treated with dignity and kindness by all members of staff and management. We are very happy with the level and standard of Mum's care and appreciate being fully informed and involved in any recommended changes.
My mother passed away on 2nd February, in the 2 years and four months she lived at Prince of Wales Nursing Home, she was treated with love and dignity at all times. Not only did they care for mum but they cared for the family too, especially in her last few weeks. We were with her in her last few days and she was surrounded by such love and compassion by all the staff we are still in touch with the home it will always be a part of our lives.
My mum was very well cared for during her time at Prince of Wales Nursing Home, she sadly passed away on 2nd February 2020, the staff and manager were so caring and made her last days very comfortable they also made sure we as a family were well informed and looked after too. Prince of Wales is an amazing place.
During the 8 years, my mother has been a resident in the Prince of Wales Nursing Home I have to say she has received the best standard of care possible. Whatever difficulties or concerns have arisen the manager and nursing/care staff always do their utmost to discuss the matter and resolve the issue in an appropriately careing and professional way. We are more than happy with the nursing care provided at the Prince of Wales.
I am writing about the Xmas party at the Prince of Wales Nursing Home. I've been to about 8 of these Xmas parties and they have been good. This years party was the best so far as it had everything and more. There were plenty of residents, carers and relatives there. I felt it was enjoyed by all and that includes friends that went. There was lovely food, singing and dancing and just a great atmosphere. I finally want to say a big thank you to the staff who made it possible.
My mother has been a resident for over three years. The home is a happy well run home and the management and staff always treat residents and visitors with care and respect. They've just held this year Christmas party was a really good event and a very good turn out, enjoyed by all. Well done to all who organised the event.
To the manager and the wonderful staff. I want to thank you for making my friend feel at home. He is a changed man since he came two months ago. He is not lonely anymore. I really cannot put into words how I feel about your home. Every member of staff is so kind and helpful. Every time I visit he is so happy and I noticed how clean he is even his shirt is ironed. I cannot get over how the manager interacts with everyone. You should be very proud of what you have achieved "A place called home".
The care home surroundings and décor wasn't the best, however, the staff were extremely helpful and supportive. When mom's health deteriorated, I felt comfort with the support and kind words I received from staff on all levels. Sadly mom passed away February 2018.
I am a visitor from New Zealand and have been visiting quite frequently to see a family member. I have always found the staff, and management very caring and extremely friendly to both myself and other family members and friends. My reason for activities is I didn't see or hear anything going on. The family member I visit is usually very happy and friendly towards the carers and management.
The staff at Prince of Wales were brilliant with my dad. He had very complex needs after suffering a stroke. He was unable to speak, communicate in any way and had to be hoisted as he was paralysed down his right side. He was always cared for with respect and dignity and he adored the staff who adored him too. They kept me updated each day I visited and were very supportive throughout and during his final days. I am very grateful to them.
My mother has been at Prince of Wales Nursing Home for just over one year. I have been very impressed by the quality of all grades of staff in the home. The home is kept clean at all times and the service users are well looked after both physically and emotionally. The service users all always dressed in clean clothes and are well groomed. The food is always excellent and they have catered to my mother's dietary requirements very well. The manageress and administrative staff have offered good support. The setting down area in front of the building is not ideal.
Dad was taken into the care home as an emergency to give my mom respite after being hospitalised. This has now become permanent. We are more than happy with the help and treatment that we have received!
I found the care home clean and tidy, the staff very pleasant and caring, not only do they look after the residents but make sure the families are looked after in the way of making them welcome with tea and biscuits. The day my mother in law died I was extremely impressed with the way the carers looked after us with their sympathy. Finding a home is difficult but I would recommend this home to anyone.
The Staff at The Prince of Wales Nursing Home have looked after my Aunt for over 6 years. My Aunt had vascular dementia and had been expected to live for only 2 years when she became a resident at the home. The care she received was exceptionally good. The Owner, Management & Care staff were always very friendly and kept us informed as to my Aunt's well-being. My Aunt died recently and the Staff at the care home made all of the arrangements for the funeral as all the family now live a long way from Solihull. I'd like to say a very big thank you to everyone involved with my Aunt's care.
