View Full Details of Woodstock Nursing HomeMy young husband received palliative, end-of-life care at the home and passed away at the setting. The care that he received was brilliant. The home not only looked after him but they also supported our family, especially in the last few days. The home advocated for him, ensuring he received the best care possible to keep him comfortable and pain-free by working with the community palliative team, regularly changing medication to align to his clinical need. He had a very peaceful passing despite very complex clinical needs. All of the staff genuinely care about the residents and their families. They are compassionate and empathetic. I cannot rate this home highly enough for palliative care. The home is clean with good infection prevention control measures in place. The staff are diligent and have good awareness of IPC. The home are also accommodating to the families' requests as much as possible, making the setting appear less clinical and more like a family home.
I always find there is a very friendly welcome on arrival at the home. The staff and management are approachable, and you can talk freely with them. My mum is always treated very well and in a friendly way, and the staff can share a laugh with you, always made to feel at home.
Very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. All the staff seem to be well-trained, especially for residents with dementia. There are always staff available to help both residents and visitors. Rooms are basic but well provided for. Pleasant dining room which choice of food!
I am so relieved to see my dad getting the care he so desperately needs. The staff, the premises and the whole experience of visiting him on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday have been exceptional. Today, Tuesday was extra special as there was music which my dad and I loved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Woodstock is wonderfully run and residents are happy and well caredl for. We could not have wished for anything more for Mum who was sympathetically and professionally cared for in this positive, happy environment. The manager and her team offer everything you could want for your loved one and we would not hesitate to recommend Woodstock as a safe and caring home
I am so grateful to the Manager of Woodstock and her competent and caring team of staff, for the excellent and efficient care they gave to my mother who was a resident during her few last weeks of life. The friendliness and respect shown towards mum by every member of the staff, both nursing and domestic, who had contact with her, was superb, and the warm and caring attitudes of the staff were always extended to me and my family whenever we visited. I would thoroughly recommend Woodstock Nursing Home to all potential residents and their families.
My father was moved to this care home after failing to settle at his previous one. He is much more settled and happy. He engages much better now when I visit. Staff are always helpful and reassure Dad when he is upset or confused. Well done Woodstock!
I must say the time my husband was in the nursing home he was very settled and enjoyed the afternoon visits by various organisations. The manager and staff where wonderful and caring. I just wish it had been nearer to where we live, I would never have moved him. He had a wonderful ensuite and was very happy. One staff member could get him to really laugh. Thank you all.
My first impression, as I walked in the nursing home on 28th May 2023, was the warm and friendly greeting I received from the nurse who opened the door! I told her who I was and that I came from Canada to visit my sister. I was taken to a small lounge area where we could have a one-on-one interaction. I visited my sister for three weeks, four hours a day, so I got to know the routines. We spent quality time outside in the garden, watching the residents and staff plant flowers. The ones who were able to walk were outside in the beautiful weather. But the concern I have regarding safety/security is when she is in that small bed at night and there is no railing in case she becomes restless during the night and falls.
I have been really impressed by Woodstock Nursing Home. From the first e-mail enquiry with head office to my initial visit and then making the decision that Woodstock and the wider team met our expectations of what we wanted from a care home. The staff headed up by the manager are all friendly, kind and compassionate towards my mother and our family interested in getting to know us as much as my mother. Nothing is too much trouble. Her room is on the ground floor looking out onto the garden which my mother will love as she likes to see any visiting birds in the garden. Woodstock is a home from home for my mum and the staff take pride in looking after the residents and themselves. We are all family should be a motto for Woodstock.
My first impression was good, I loved the layout with ground floor access to the dining room, lounge and garden. The family were able to visit for my husband's birthday and were shown to a private room for the occasion. His room was spotless with matching bedding and his wet room adjoining. Tv and monitors. A lovely light and airy room. So far the care has been fantastic and I can see great improvement so far in his well-being.
My Father has been very well cared for, he is a new resident to the care home. The staff have been so welcoming and are looking after him so well, he is washed daily, his clothes changed daily, lovely home-cooked food, a pleasant room and all staff we have met that have looked after him have been amazing. The manager and office staff are incredibly helpful and provide great advice. I must also congratulate the activities coordinators who provided a great selection of Christmas and New Year activities for all the residents, I visited when the Xmas party was taking place and it was a joy to see, residents were not only enjoying the music, dressed up for the occasion and wearing Christmas hats with some playing musical instruments as well.
During my wife's short stay at Woodstock Nursing Home, she was treated with great care and dignity throughout. The staff there were all lovely people!
Appointment for me and a cousin for 10.45 am-11.30 am on Wednesday 18th May. At 10.45 precisely we were admitted, processed for Covid by a nurse and made seven minutes late due to the printing of a form that needed filling. Also, no available space for entries in the visitor's book. Entered via garden to a room apparently dedicated for visits - one visit to the home at a time seemed the reason for the tight time schedule (why not use the resident's room?). Unhappy about her long, dirty fingernails, my sister was happy for me to trim them. I asked a carer in the next room for nail nippers. She directed me through the home to reception where I was given nippers. On trimming the first nail, the nurse appeared and told us it was time to go. We had ten minutes remaining of our 45-minute slot. The nurse said visiting slots were 20 minutes in duration. She would not allow me to finish trimming my sister's disgusting nails, saying that a chiropodist visited the home once per fortnight - a minimum of six weeks of my sister's nail growth. Sister's son had been promised her nails would be cut two days earlier. Poor management, communication, use of staff time, dignity to visitors, care of residents and use of facilities. Over application of Covid restrictions at the expense of humanity and resident care.
Lovely visit today. Mum was relaxed and happy, especially with a particular team member in attendance.
Well managed.
I was greeted in a very friendly manner and made to feel welcome. The visiting process was explained to me and I had no anxieties. The time spent with my dad was relaxed and enjoyable.
Lovely to see my cousin looking well and happy. Carers are really helpful.
Great experience. Lovely to see Dad looking so well after 9-months of no visits.
This review relates to March because I have been unable to enter the home since then due to Covid-10. My mum is well down the path on her journey with Alzheimer's and is therefore unable to participate in most of the entertainment. I would wish for more one to one "chat" between her and the carers. Of course, staffing numbers and time available restrict what can be offered, which is a huge pity as I am currently unable to visit properly. Mum is confined to a wheelchair and I feel she is vulnerable to other residents who may wander into her room.
