We all want our parents to remain in their own homes as long as possible, but there are times when you have no choice but to choose a care home for them. We couldn't have made a better choice than The Coombs! From the very first moment, it felt like a home, a warm, friendly, inviting home. And it felt like that every time we visited, day or night. Mum made friends with all the wonderful staff and she enjoyed their stimulating banter, danced and sang with them. The kitchen staff looked after her every need, which was mostly cheese and crackers - lol! There were plenty of events and outings to the swimming pool, boat trips, library and cafes. Most importantly, her health care and nursing requirements were handled with dignity and sensitivity, and always carefully monitored. As mum's closest family, we were listened to by the incredible staff and Management of The Coombs. Mum's last hours were handled with dignity, respect and love. We thank each and every one of you.
I have to be honest that my opinion of Care Homes in general , previously was not good but after being lucky enough to get a place at The Coombs for our 93 year old mum, that opinion quickly changed . From the moment mum arrived there they were very attentive and took the time to get to know her ( and us) and find out what she liked and disliked. There were no restrictions on visiting hours which made it easy and less stressful spending quality time with mum. The food was good and plentiful usually with home made cakes at tea time . It really was like a home from home and I joked to my own children that they could book me in now because it simply was that good. I can totally recommend The Coombs and would like to thank the very very caring staff there . You are amazing
My husband's nan has been in The Coombs since August. She has settled in really well. Such a homely environment and nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. Activities are great with choices for all to participate, plenty of grounds to take your loved ones around when the weather is nice. It is also always very clean when we visit. Thank you for taking such good care of our nan, it's always a pleasure to visit.
My nan is in The Coombs Nursing Home and I have had the best experience. She is happy and well looked after. The care team is amazing, nothing is too much and they always make the residents laugh and feel at home. My nan has come on so well since being admitted, when she arrived she was too poorly to get out of bed and now she is up and walking with a wheeled frame, eating a cooked breakfast every morning and loving life. The manager is always willing to help where she can and is always welcoming when coming into the home. The Coombs feels like a home from home.
Very caring to my father, can't fault them at all. Takes part in all activities which is very good for him. The food is excellent and always well-presented. Rooms are very spacious and clean and tidy.
After caring for both our parents, it's very reassuring to know that dad is being so well cared for at the coombs. All the staff are brilliant with him, as well as us as a family.
Amazing, very reassuring, staff are caring and nothing is too much trouble. Couldn't be a better home for Mum. The staff are all incredible. I know Mum couldn't be in a better home. I am so thankful for all at The Coombs and all that the staff do.
Set in beautiful gardens, you feel at home as you enter. The staff are truly wonderful, and you can see they all love working there. A very well-organised management and I feel this is also why everybody gives out positive vibes. I am so happy for Mum and feel she will have many years at The Coombs. Also, makes it easier for me to leave her.
Staff are always polite, helpful and extremely caring for residents and residents' families. The care home is always spotlessly clean and tidy and I would recommend it to anyone.
Very happy with the care received for Mum. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Mum seems very content in The Coombs and does join in more with the activities like bingo and quizzes. I would recommend this home to others.
The Coombs support me. The care is excellent for my husband. The staff always give so much. I would recommend The Coombs.
My dear mum has just spent four years in The Coombs, up until her sadly passing away a couple of days ago. Whilst not the most luxurious of care homes, the care Mum received was absolutely excellent and we could not have wished for better. In her final days and hours, the love and care shown to Mum was really wonderful and heartwarming to see.
The care staff at The Coombs have looked after my friend very well. They are kind, caring and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. My friend is very happy here.
I have always had a very positive experience regarding the care of Mum at the Coombs. The staff are always very helpful and Mum is happy and content. The coombs has a "homely" feel with plenty of activities to entertain the residents and of late day trips
We are very happy with the level of care that our Mum is receiving at The Coombs. Staff are kind and efficient and whenever we visit Mum we are so pleased to see how content she is at The Coombs. Mum's room is clean and cosy and has her personal effects, family photos, mementoes etc.
All the staff are brilliant to mother I could not be happier with her care.
The Coombs is very homely and caring. Care is personalized and respectful of the resident's needs and wishes. Visitors are made to feel very welcome and being able to go and make yourself a hot drink for yourself and any friends visiting with you makes it so much less clinical and more like a home. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
The care and attention given is extremely good and makes her happy.
As the boxes show, I would strongly recommend The Coombs to anyone who would ask me. The only reservation, that was not asked, was parking. I think that this should be looked at.
Since living in The Coombs dads physical health has improved, he is well fed and cared for in a lovely room overlooking the garden. While nothing can be done for age-related problems, the staff at The Coombs are both professional and caring. Dad is nodding in agreement with my comments. We, my brothers, sister and I are very happy with everything at The Coombs.
