View Full Details of Otterbourne Grange Residential HomeI encouraged my mum to place my dad at Otterbourne Grange as I felt the management and staff would take great care of him. I was right, I never felt worried about my dad's care in their hands. He was treated as an individual with respect till the very end. Thank you.
During the time my husband was in the care of Otterbourne Grange every attempt was made to meet his needs and comfort. Since he was suffering from active dementia he wasn't always able to appreciate the care being taken but nevertheless, every opportunity was taken to recognise him as an individual and develop relationships. This also extended to us as a family.
I made the difficult decision to move my 94 year old mother with dementia into a care home. I was somewhat anxious about this move due to a very bad experience with another care home. My mother was made to feel very welcome and the staff did everything they could to help her settle in. She is now enjoying life at the home and is very happy to be there, such a huge relief for me knowing that she is well cared for. I am kept well informed of all medical issues and the staff are all so very friendly and helpful every time I visit and nothing is too much trouble. They have been out on various tips and have lots of activities in the home and she is encouraged to join in. On the whole a lovely home with a lovely family atmosphere.
Moving Mum to a care home was a tough decision, but with her Alzheimer's, safeguarding became a concern. The managers were incredibly helpful and welcoming, proactively assessing Mum and supporting her transition. The carers have been equally supportive and always greet us with a smile. A social media group has been created, allowing us to see the activities Mum participates in, which is wonderful since she often forgets when I ask. Christmas was particularly special, with Mum attending choirs and a Panto, and we enjoyed a Christmas party at the home with family and friends, complete with games and dancing. The only downside is that the building could use some TLC, given its age, but it is always kept clean. Thank you for your care.
My mother has been here for 4 years now and was joined 2 years ago by her sister. It's an older homely care home but it stands out because of the staff that work hard to care for everyone, Always greeted with a happy smile when visiting. The management and staff here are very good in my opinion, which keeps my mind at rest as Mum has Dimensia. There are activities daily, and the occasional outing, the latest being a trip to the Zoo. Always kept up to date with Mum's health and well-being and very flexible when it comes to hospital visits that I couldn't do. I can't speak highly enough of the young driven management team! Well done everyone.
My dad stayed at Otterbourne Grange as a permanent resident for the last three months of his life. I could not have asked for a better place for him to be. The home is incredibly well run and managed and all the staff I met - from senior managers to carers - were engaged, efficient and very caring. The communication was excellent and I always felt well informed, but not over-burdened with routine information. The standard of care is everything you would hope for your family - respectful, attentive and friendly. After a pretty depressing experience at his previous care home (before I could move him to be close to me) my dad settled after a cup of tea and two brownies (one of which was supposed to be for me!). The environment is a huge asset - a lovely, light-filled Victorian house in wonderful grounds with large bedrooms and great living space - but it is the staff and the culture that stand out. Otterbourne Grange made a huge difference to my dad and our family and I highly recommend it.
My mother was at Otterbourne Grange for about 15 months until we moved her in May 2024 to be nearer to family. I would highly recommend this home for its quality of staff for not only are they kind and caring but also good-humoured with a keen sense of fun. This made a huge difference to my mum's quality of life. The kitchen staff also did a great job tailoring Mum's meals to things she enjoyed. The managers kept us informed of the outcomes of any doctor visits or any issues that arose so that we felt completely in the loop. The building decor is a bit tired in places but that was the least important thing on our list and the above positive features far outweighed this slight negative.
Attentive friendly staff help give the place a hotel-like atmosphere - there's always enough food and drink for everyone at any time and it's as cheerful as is possible. My husband has enjoyed his activities and time there.
I would like to thank all the members of staff at Otterbourne Grange Residential Home for looking after my Mum, they treat her caringly and with respect. She is very happy to be there and for me, it feels like a home from home. Great job.
My husband has dementia. He stayed at Otterbourne Grange for two weeks. It was his second visit. He was very well looked after. I found the staff friendly, caring, conscientious and respectful. The manager kept me informed on how he was coping and his progress. I felt confident leaving my husband at Otterbourne Grange.
I have found the staff at Otterbourne Grange to be caring, respectful and gracious towards my dad and our wider family. We are so pleased that he is there. I'm conscious that it's early days but I'm confident that this is the right place for him now, as we work with the staff and others on what is best for his future.
The staff at Otterbourne Grange do an amazing job of caring for my dad. They are always happy to help with any questions we have. My dad really likes all the staff and enjoys chatting with them.
Extremely good. Very nice people and good food.
Mum has been at Otterbourne Grange for over 4 years now and we have always been very pleased with the care she has received. You always want to do your best for your parents when looking for a home and whilst not a modern facility it just had the right feel about the place. It rated highly, in our view, in the areas of safety, comfort, home cooked food, friendly staff and the care provided. The place has soul and was just what Mum wanted and needed. Mum turned 90 in 2020 and the staff always try to make birthdays/ Christmas etc special for their residents to mark the occasions - lovely to see and I am sure is very much appreciated by the residents. Whilst she cannot communicate well at all now, she always said she liked her room at Otterbourne Grange and is happy there. Over her stay, her needs have progressively increased but the staff have always striven to do as much as they can for her and anything they can't do is covered by a nurse that visits Mum once a week.
Otterbourne Grange is a lovely period property set in its own grounds. The home has a welcoming feel to it and does not appear institutional, rather more home-like. The staff are friendly and caring. They try their best in often challenging times. My mother has been a resident for several years and has never expressed any dissatisfaction about the home. The standard of meals and cleanliness is good. All in all very happy with Otterbourne Grange. Thank you.
My mother-in-law lived at Otterbourne Grange for approximately seven years until her death earlier this year. She was happy and well cared-for and the staff were very kind to her. It has a friendly family atmosphere and she considered it her home.
I always receive a good welcome and am offered refreshments. Otterbourne Grange always appears calm and relaxed and the staff are competent and caring and always visible. The residents appear to be happy enough in their own way. One staff member in particular is always on hand to assist or answer any questions.
The atmosphere went far beyond my expected conditions. Accommodation excellent. Food good, the chef should be complimented. The cakes superb, entertainment good if you can join in. One little niggle - the laundry needs to be looked at with some form of list to put in that will be booked out when finished. At one stage, I was without my joggers.
My mother is very happy and well looked after. The staff are all very friendly. I am pleased with the care my mother gets.
My wife is in the very late stages of Alzheimer's disease. The services provided for her by the staff is of the highest quality as if she was their own mother. All her care needs are met with love and devotion as if she was in her own home. I could not ask for better care to be given.
