View Full Details of Newford Nursing HomeMy wife has resided in Newford Nursing Home for two years having previously resided in two other care homes, Newford has been far superior! From my observation, service users are treated independently, according to their needs, with kindness and respect. I visit my wife in the home five times a week, during meal times and activities. The atmosphere in the home is happy and upbeat and there is an ongoing programme of activities/entertainments! Enquiries are dealt with promptly by staff. There are meetings available for relatives where they are able to put forward opinions/suggestions or discuss potential items of concern. An opportunity is never missed for a celebration, be it Christmas, Easter, Halloween, pancake day etc. and especially, each service users birthday! There is always a birthday cake provided and a special fuss is made of the birthday girl/boy. In summary, I am very happy with the care and attention received by my wife.
My mother has been a resident at Newford for over four years during which time she has prospered and benefited from the care she has received. The home itself has recently undergone many cosmetic improvements which make it pleasant for the residents and their visitors, it is always clean with no bad odours, the staff are hard-working and pleasant. The food is high quality and suited to the elderly. There is a monthly programme of events with occasional entertainment. I can recommend Newford without hesitation.
My relative had to change from a residential care home to a nursing home a few months ago following a fall, and after looking and visiting a few nursing homes we made the decision on Newford as we felt due to its size and homely feel that it would suit her needs. It has not failed in our expectations. My relative settled in well and always looks well cared for. She enjoys taking part in daily different activities, enjoys her weekly session with the home's hairdresser and has even taken up knitting again for the first time in over 20 years! I am happy to recommend this home.
We were surprised that Newford Nursing Home has only got a review of 8.00, Our mum has been resident there for a year and her care has been outstanding. We visit at all different times and know many of the staff some who have worked there for many years. Residents are not all kept in one room but are allowed to walk freely about, our mum was a very independent person and being able to come and go within the home was important to us and her. In the summer we joined an organised outing. We had some problems but the carer and her team were on hand and professionally took over sorting the situation quickly, we were relieved and very impressed. Regularly we have timetables of activities arranged for the residents. Originally viewing the home our 'gut instinct was good, it was heart-wrenching to do but knew it was the right and only decision. We know Mum is in a safe and caring environment giving us peace of mind. We have no hesitation in recommending this home.
My mother has been residing at Newford for almost 2 years since being unable to care for herself in her own home, she has Alzheimer's and was having increased episodes of confusion and falls whilst at home. I chose this nursing home because I've known several church members who have been residents in the past and my partner's father resided here nearing the end of his life, receiving palliative care. I have nothing but praise for the home, they care for the residents as if they were family, and that is how it feels when you walk in, everyone is friendly, you feel welcomed and listened to. Mum's care has been impeccable, she is so happy and comfortable, she has made friends, loves the staff and never complains about anything. It is really difficult to place a parent/relative in a care home but knowing that mum is happy and safe takes the weight off. The food is tremendous the activities are incredible and I think it should be used as a benchmark for other homes to follow.
It’s ten months since mum had to give up her independent living at home. The quest to find somewhere to match her home comforts along with the nursing care required and other important matters like activities, cleanliness, food quality etc, was a really tough one for me to embark on alone. After visiting five different settings that were “ok” I walked into Newford and has already been said immediately felt, “ this place is really good”. My instincts didn’t let me down, this place is really good, in fact, it’s excellent in every regard. The team are first class in their attentiveness and the caring, catering, activity and house duty staff follow that example. Mum has settled really well. That is solely down to Newford nursing home and its staff. Thank you to every one of you there.
We got a good feeling about Newford from the very first visit. Within 2 days of Dad moving in, he was like a different person, he's very settled and the staff are extremely patient and very, very caring, it's lovely to see. I live close to the home and pop in on a regular basis and always find a happy atmosphere. The nursing care is excellent, Dad is kept clean and smart and any medical issues are spotted very quickly. Unfortunately, dad can't participate in the many activities available but there is plenty on offer and I love the small, themed lounges and the memorabilia that is displayed throughout. I wouldn't wish that dad was anywhere else!
As a family we have always found the staff at Newford approachable, helpful, ready to listen, caring, compassionate and willing to go that extra mile. We had viewed other nursing homes, with dismay. As soon as we walked into Newford we knew it was the one. It was clean and fresh, with a great atmosphere. I would not hesitate to recommend Newford.
My auntie has been a resident of Newford Nursing Home for some time. She is very happy and feels safe that she has 24-hour care. Over these last few months and particularly during Covid the home has had the residents at the forefront of care! When we enter the home we are welcomed and immediately feel like part of the bigger family! We have such a lovely time with her when we visit her which we all enjoy and come away feeling happy and knowing she is in the best place for her! Peace of mind! The home is very clean and tidy. The staff are always happy and friendly and make us welcome. The Home Manager obviously has the residents' and staff interests paramount in the home. My auntie looks forward to spending time with her friends and joining in all the activities. She loves having her hair done every week as she did before she came into the home. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work and what you do for my auntie.
My nan is well looked after, she always looks clean and tidy, her room is always clean and tidy, and the home itself always looks clean and tidy. The meals I've seen are very good homemade and fresh. The staff are fantastic they keep me up to date with regard to my nan. The activities are very good, from bingo to animals coming in and visiting the home. I can not recommend Newford nursing home enough, fab all round. Thank you.
My mum is so happy at Newford and although it took her a while to integrate, with the help of the staff she seems to be enjoying all the activities (especially I believe balloon tennis! As I can’t visit mum often I am able to call and speak to her and also get an update from the nursing staff which is reassuring. Thank you, everyone.
Since my mother came to live in Newford it has given her a new lease of life. She is cared for to a high standard. All her needs are met with friendliness and understanding. I couldn’t wish for a better environment for mum to spend the twilight of her life. Thank you Newford
I used to visit my friend at Newford Nursing Home. I had known her for a few years as I used to go to her house. She never really wanted to go into a home as she was so strong and independent but at the same time didn't want to worry her family by being home alone. She settled in well and always had a good banter with the staff which was amazing. She celebrated her 100th birthday there. I would ask her what her secret to a long and happy life was and she would say laughter and honesty. Staff were always lovely when I visited. I used to tell her if a nursing job came up I'd love to work there! Lovely atmosphere, something going on all of the time with a variety of activities and just a lovely feel about the place. Forever grateful to the staff for making my friend feel so settled.
My mum had the best possible care in Newford Nursing Home. We as a family could not have wished for better care for a loved one. All the staff are wonderful, nothing was too much trouble either in caring for Mum, or keeping the family up to date with my mum's needs. The bedrooms are spotless, never once did we find Mum unwashed or without clean clothes. The food is varied and nutritious, there’s also lots of entertainment to occupy the residents. The staff care, really care. My mum loved her tunes on her radio, the girls would sing along with her, they said she was a joy to care for. Unfortunately, my mum passed away 6 weeks ago, she was 93 and had had a good life, and two of the wonderful staff were with her when she passed. Two lovely young carers also attended her funeral, which goes to show how much they care, and as a family we really appreciated it. We would have no hesitation in recommending Newford Nursing Home for your loved ones.
Both my grandparents are at Newford and I believe they are both cared for and looked after by the lovely staff. They arrange in-house entertainment as well as going out in the community visiting local places. They provide a variety of meals and there is always staff around to help. Thank you for everything you do for my Nana and Grandad please continue with your good work.
My grandad has been a resident of this home for over 2 years. The staff are fantastic, they always keep us up to date with any ailments my grandad has. They also have a jam-packed board of activities, which allow everyone to be involved. They have regular performances, internal pub nights, animals visiting, they make things and have church services. The place is immaculate, they are always cleaning. They have decorated numerous times, always painting, new carpets, they decorate the walls, they have a nursery section, also a vintage corner. Your relative would be in excellent care in this facility.
A warm, friendly and welcoming environment with caring and committed staff who work extremely hard to keep their residents happy, comfortable, stimulated and entertained. The four small, different themed lounges facilitate easier interaction and socialisation for the residents and the recently added vintage themed, tea room, has a lovely ambience and is just perfect for afternoon tea, cake and chat. The range of activities is impressive, to say the least. The staff are constantly looking at different ways to stimulate their service users with activities including seated exercise classes, gardening, baking, sensory activities, art and crafts and aromatherapy to name but a few. In addition to numerous, planned outings, regular visiting singers, speakers and their own "in house" entertainment, the residents are very well catered for. The building has a very simple layout, with light, wide passage ways and with all facilities on one level, enabling easy access to the outside garden and seating areas.
