View Full Details of Cornmill Nursing & Residential Care HomeExcellent experience.
Found some staff to have little or no empathy for relatives, ie laughing at something and told us he wanted to watch porn (more than once). A member of staff told nonrelatives they could take my father out without our permission. (He was bedridden, and couldn't walk and talk!). Had to complain as found my father days before he passed with porridge on him - 11 am. Short of nurses, had to request pain relief regularly.
My late husband and I together with our three children were all comforted by the peaceful location and very professional and caring staff.
Cornmill Nursing Home is an excellent, caring, family-run nursing home and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves their family member and wants the best for them. The staff could not do enough for my husband, he was treated with dignity and affection by all the members of staff. The home was always clean and in fact my husband's room was renovated whilst he was a resident. The food was tailored to his needs and was nutritious and of good quality.
Care for my husband, be it just one month was outstanding. He was treated with both dignity and respect and made comfortable at all times. The staff were attentive and warm and even took time to ensure I was ok. The food, cooked on the premises, looked appetising and rooms were kept spotless. Both care staff and nurses are very competent, approachable and professional, along with management. Five-star service all the way round.
Generally very pleased with the care given to my mother during the three-year period spent at the Cornmill. The only criticism would be a lack of communication about my mother's deteriorating condition. As a family, we saw it and felt not told about outside agency involvement e.g. nutritionist, speech therapist, doctor visit etc. We had to raise concerns and then gain insight into how her problems and issues were being addressed. On the odd occasion felt there was understaffing due to comments made by staff when I phoned up with a query.
My experience of the Cornmill Nursing Home was of a professional, caring company. The staff were considerate and attentive to needs. The room was pleasant and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. My views as a friend and helper were listened to. At the end of my friend's life, the carers showed compassion to me as well as to her. I felt she was safe and secure at Cornhill.
My experience of all aspects of care for my father was that of complete positivity in how well he was cared for with dignity, love and also fun when it should be. Nothing was too much trouble and there were always discussions as to what was in his best interests: his needs including managing his illness and pain to enjoy his time the best he could. He seemed very fond of all the staff and was always telling them how grateful he was...and so were we. Amazing staff.
Excellent care in every respect despite difficult circumstances.
The Cornmill Nursing Home provides extremely high-quality nursing care for the elderly. The food is of a very good standard. The staff are friendly. The Cornmill has a very welcoming feel and holds a homely atmosphere. I can definitely recommend the Cornmill Nursing Home.
We found the staff at Cornmill treated our mother with extreme care, kindness and dignity from the beginning of her stay right up to the end of her life. Even in her final days, she was kept clean, with her hair combed and she was wearing her perfume. She was always comfortable. Her bed was always clean and tidy and her room was a pleasant space to be in. The whole family felt that if someone was going to die they could not receive better care anywhere.
We found the Cornmill Nursing Home at a time of need for our mum. The management staff were excellent and professional in their information given and their assessment of mums needs. Personal care given to mum was caring and patient. All staff looked after Dad during his visits as well. Staff at the Cornmill were doing a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances. We were lucky to be able to visit inside during mums end of life, we were fortunate to have found Cornmill.
As a good friend - Cornmill Nursing Home came highly recommended. Weeks in hospital - a one-off slot came for Cornmill. I snapped it up (having had members of my family in various care homes). It is very difficult to make a decision for someone else (in their best interest) knowing that it is not what they want! In my mind (if a care home is needed) this is the ideal place. Great food, great care and pleasant staff. I have only praise and thanks for all the hard work the staff provided and the best of care.
What a wonderful place The Cornmill is, my Grandmother spent her last 13 months there and every day I felt thankful. Cared for to the highest standards with the much needed personal touch. Nothing was too much trouble. Family occasions were celebrated in a side lounge with full staff support and we cherished those days. Every visit was a pleasure. The day I dropped her off for respite I knew I would cry but not with tears of joy, as she marvelled at the fresh flowers, and the welcome card in her super clean room. Every visit I would see umpteen members of staff all happy, accommodating and knowledgable of what Grandma had been doing, any concerns, updates and suggestions. The staff at The Cornmill offered the professional care we as a family could not while allowing us to keep functioning as a family. When she became poorly they made the right call every time and the care was second to none. A long life well lived was enriched by The Cornmill’s care.
My wife has been in the home for 2 years and is looked after very well. She is well fed (with very good food) and is always very clean. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them. The accommodation is very good and always clean and tidy.
Cornmill Nursing Home in Garstang is an excellent family run care home and I couldn't fault the care and attention they gave to my mum during her seven-month stay with them.
Facilities - lovely conservatory overlooking river, hill views, courtyard with seating, fountain and flowers. Hairdressing, chiropody, manicure, head massage. Entertainment - weekly programme of music and art, also cheese and wine, group crossword, seasonal activities, Burns Night supper and jazz. Relationships - very good. My husband was treated with dignity and as a person. As his health deteriorated their care increased. The lady bringing clean laundry cared enough to make sure his music was right. He has become one of the family. Nursing Care - excellent, very soon my husband put on weight, walking improved, infections were dealt with immediately, effectively and with good communication. His end of life care was managed with professionalism and sensitivity. It seemed that half the staff came quietly to his room to have a word - I guess they were saying 'goodbye'. This love, care and expertise underpins all The Cornmill does. It helped us all to cope with a traumatic time. I cannot praise The Cornmill enough.
I am pleased my husband is being very well looked after. The carers, nurses and all other staff are excellent and as he cannot do much for himself they treat him with great respect when attending to his personal needs etc.
My mum was treated with dignity and respect during her last weeks of life which were spent at the Cornmill. The staff were professional, respectful and keen to help my mum. Overall I trusted that she was in a safe environment. The food, cleanliness, offers for entertainment and management were all excellent. It was a very difficult time for my family, but The Cornmill helped take a little of the burden away.
Excellent nursing home, the best nursing home in the country by far. Such a shame my mother only lasted about 3 weeks as she had been very poorly with substandard care in a previous home - just terrible - but the staff at Cornmill are amazing, kind, compassionate and very professional. Just everything was top quality - the room and setting view from mother's double room was excellent. Thank you Cornmill.
