View Full Details of Bymead HouseWe placed our relative in Bymead during the first lockdown. We could not, therefore personally inspect the facilities, but relied on the excellent local reputation and the recommendation of a trusted friend, whose mother has been a long-term resident. What luck! What is particularly noticeable are the little things which make life more enjoyable, how the care staff take care to bend down to the level of the residents (if seated) and converse face to face, is just one example. The staff ensure that everybody can be included in whatever activities are going on, even if bed-bound. There is always a friendly welcome from the staff when we visit and our queries are answered promptly and fully. Placing a loved one in a home is probably the hardest thing, but Bymead House, has relieved any worries we initially had and continues to provide first-class care for our relative. It has been an absolute God-send. Cannot praise it highly enough and recommend, without reservation.
Treating elderly people with dignity and as equals is so important. 10 out of 10 for that. Also, the activities, especially throughout covid, were fantastic. An excellent, well-run nursing home from owner, management, nursing, carers etc. Well done everyone!
Bymead House has a strong family atmosphere and I could not imagine how my grandma could be better looked after. The staff quickly got to know my grandma and her close relatives, and are always friendly and helpful. Throughout the pandemic they have done everything they can to ensure we are still able to communicate with her and that she is active. They even arranged a fabulous 100th birthday party for her with the whole family and friends using video conference. Every time I speak to Grandma she is keen to express that she is "very happy" at Bymead, that "everyone here is very nice" and "they take good care of me". Her room is small but sunny and she has everything she needs. It was a big decision for Grandma to move into a home, but we are certain that it was the best decision for her. It gives the family all great comfort, especially during the recent challenges with the pandemic. If you are looking for a home for someone you love, I cannot recommend Bymead highly enough.
A wonderful, clean and welcoming care home. Residents are well looked after and respected by all staff. Staff are very friendly to families and have resident's well-being first and foremost. There are fun activities for residents to join in and occasional trips out. Could not ask for a better home to place my mother in to.
My mother has been at Bymead for 16-months, and have found the home to be well run with caring staff, and it is nice to know that my mum is being well looked after. She enjoys the many activities that the home have especially, Bingo. Being a vegetarian and a very fussy one, the staff will always make sure she has something nice to eat. Nurses and carers are all very friendly as are all the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone that needed nursing care.
The staff at the home are always very approachable and have a very caring approach towards my mother. They have been working especially hard during the coronavirus to keep my mother and the other resident's spirits up during this very difficult time. Mum has told us how much she has appreciated the care she has received.
Mum has been living in Bymead for over 2 years now. I warmed to Bymead right from the start. Both the setting and location are great but more importantly I could immediately see the staff engaging positively with the residents in a manner both caring and professional. This has been a key feature throughout the past 2 years and is so important. Lots of activities are arranged - from the summer fete to firework nights - to encourage residents to mix and just brighten their days. When mum has had particular periods of ill health they have been so quick to respond and have been so supportive both to her and to me. Of course these past few months have been particularly trying but the management and staff of Bymead responded so well to the challenge - making the physical and mental wellbeing or residents their clear number one priority. I am so grateful for that. I am so glad that in those very many weeks and months when I was not able to visit that she was safe in the care of Bymead.
My mother has been a resident in Bymead for 4 years. The care she has received has been exceptional with wonderful, caring, knowledgeable staff who have always been kind and supportive of both her and all her family. The management is excellent and always keep us informed of developments and regularly visit the residents and clearly provide very good support and training for the staff. The home is very attractive and clean with good bedrooms and excellent large sitting and dining areas. Meals are excellent - varied, freshly prepared with a lot of choices and the kitchen staff are very accomodating of special needs and requests. The views over the large well-tended gardens are a huge bonus and provide enormous pleasure for everyone. We cannot praise Bymead highly enough and are always extremely grateful our mother is being looked after there.
The staff, environment and ethos are all fantastic. Bymead House is a family-owned/managed home. All residents (relatives, friends and staff) are part of the family and are all treated as you would want your nearest and dearest to be treated. Residents' quality of life at Bymead is excellent.
I could not have found a better care home for my mother. The staff are excellent both in their attitude to their work and the care they give to the residents. Residents are encouraged to participate in the many activities that are provided.
Mum spent two years as a resident at Bymead having had to leave her home when the level of care required made it no longer feasible for her to stay at home. Besides having had several TIAs and quite severe arthritis she also had vascular dementia. Bymead were welcoming, professional and caring from the get-go. Mum was, probably like many making this transition, initially resistant and uneasy at being in a home but the staff were engaged and attentive without being invasive or assertive: they wanted to make sure Mum felt as relaxed as possible and also made sure that her family were kept informed of her condition as she settled in. It is notable that Bymead does not have significant staff turnover so both the carers and nursing staff can build meaningful relationships with residents and the home's management also make a point of staying connected with residents and their families. Throughout Mum's stay and her ultimate passing at the home, this team were always caring and considerate.
