View Full Details of Barchester GlenroydMy brother has been in Glenroyd nursing home, Blackpool since July 2019. He is disabled after a massive stroke in 2015 and he cannot speak. He has had the best of care and affection from all staff. He has been treated with love and consideration re. his disability. All patients are included, where possible in all activities within the home. The activities and thought put in to all occasions is excellent. Recommended on all levels.
My auntie hasn't been here very long, she came here for 1 day before going back to hospital, and came back here on the 29th of January on end of life care. The home is absolutely lovely and my auntie would've loved it if she was able to experience it. The staff have been nothing short of amazing, caring for both my auntie and all of our family, who have been sat up there with her since she came in, offered sandwiches at lunchtimes, offered meals at both breakfast and dinner and even made a birthday cake for my auntie's daughter. It has honestly been amazing to feel so welcomed by all the staff. But as for the care for my auntie, we couldn't thank the staff enough for always making sure she is comfortable and content for when the time comes and thank you for allowing all of us to be with her every minute of every day. So from all of the family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you've done for her.
At a very difficult time for our family, we received a warm, caring and compassionate welcome by all staff members. We had several days there whilst we visited our family member on end of life care and the courtesy, information and respect we received from nursing staff was greatly appreciated. We were surprised to receive the generosity of the home in regular high quality refreshments that kept us going at a difficult time.
Our mother had a bad experience at another care home and we wish we had found Barchester Glenroyd sooner. She suffers from severe dementia so needs a high level of care. The level of professionalism is first-class but also consistent which is tantamount to not just the training but the type of staff employed. The management are always friendly, helpful and approachable but the real stars are the carers who don't just provide care but genuinely seem to care. Always willing to go the extra mile for a resident. It sounds clichè but it's like an extended family who have also made my dad's daily visits wonderful, warm and enjoyable. Myself and my family cannot recommend this home highly enough. In fact, I struggle to find anything negative to say, possibly that you have to wait a bit longer than expected to get in, during busy periods. The biggest compliment you can pay Glenroyd is that you can go in anytime unannounced and it's the same friendly welcome, high standards, with superb activities/events.
Outstanding care. Thank you.
It was a very difficult decision for my dad to go into a home permanently but I'm glad we chose Barchester Glenroyd. Dad had a bit of an unsettled start but the staff all got to know him, always had time to chat to him and have a laugh (Dad has vascular dementia but still has his sense of humour!) The staff and some of the residents and their families have become like our extended family. Dad has now settled well and enjoys the food, the entertainment (there's always something going on to keep the residents engaged) and he receives amazing care. The whole Glenroyd team work very hard and everyone is really friendly. An amazing team! Thank you all for your continued care and support.
A beautiful, modern, well-run home. Lovely, attentive staff, clean and tidy. Very impressed with the EMI section where Mum is residing in her own room.
My experiences of the wonderful carers on the tip floor are second to none. Every carer is so very caring, kind and considerate towards my mum. She is in excellent hands.
On admittance, staff were welcoming and care was excellent for my dad. It continues today. Home was clean and very comfortable in its surroundings and made a first good impression. Food is lovely with plenty of variety. Carers do an amazing job but are very undervalued by government. Overall experience was very good.
My mother came to Glenroyd Care Home. Within 3 hours she was medically checked, diagnosed with a wedge fracture, constipation and thrush of the throat and mouth. The care that the staff showed was second to none. I cannot thank the care staff especially one nurse in particular, the deputy manager and the manager.
The staff at Glenroyd always fill me with confidence that my mother is being well cared for. The food is varied and of good quality. Three courses for lunch and evening meals and a choice of full cooked breakfast, cereal, toast or all three for breakfast. The cleaners are very thorough, working hard to ensure the home is always very clean. The entertainment team are excellent and provide the residents with lots of interesting activities. A small sample of the many activities for December included a trip to a garden centre, an Xmas quiz for residents and relatives (hilarious), children visiting to sing to residents and Santa visiting every resident on Xmas day and giving them gifts. My mother is very happy in Glenroyd, for which I am very grateful.
At Glenroyd Nursing Home, Blackpool, the care my nan has received has been outstanding. The staff have been trained to such a high standard - very caring, considerate, thoughtful and kind. All the staff are like a family whilst being very professional. My nan has been with the Glenroyd for over two years now, and I wouldn't wish her to be anywhere else. My nan is my boss, my best friend, and I love her so much. Thank you so much to you all.
Right from the General Manager, Nursing Staff, Admin, Activities Co-Ord (that certainly brightened up the Festive time for our mother), and The Gentle Giant - Chef in the Kitchen. Everyone made us all feel comfortable even offering us meals when attending to our mother, they all made us feel that we were all part of the Big Family. The whole staff have shown compassion, sensitivity and understanding during our family’s difficult times. Noting these special words, we are not just here for your mother we are also here for you as a family. This approach has certainly helped our family through these difficult and emotional stresses, making them more manageable. 'This creates a real family atmosphere.' 'Thank you'.
My wife has been looked after at Barchester Glenroyd for nearly three years now following a stroke, brain surgery and subsequent medical complications. The staff have always been attentive, supportive and professional. Their nursing care has been a significant factor in her continuing recovery. In the last nine months, as my wife’s mental capacity has returned, she has benefitted from and enjoyed the various well-organised activities and events that are a regular feature within the care home. I can vouch for the fact that the photos and videos on the Glenroyd social media page provide a fair reflection of the residents' enjoyment. Naturally, there are some limitations. Accessibility can be a little difficult at times as staff are busy and not always available to attend the front door. However, resident safety is paramount. The Glenroyd is a friendly home with caring staff and my wife has definitely benefitted from their attentions.
Just wanted to thank each and every one of the staff and carers at Barchester Glenroyd for a December to remember! I honestly can't believe the care and dedication that everyone at Glenroyd has shown to our family! It's not just been about our family. We have shared lots of lovely times with other residents and their families and had the pleasure of getting to know them and all about their Glenroyd journey. We were overjoyed at the Christmas video made by the activities coordinator! What a talent she has! So motivated and full of passion for her job! She is truly inspirational! And a credit the team. It's hard to see your loved ones lose the life they used to have and the hard work they did to bring up their own families and to make Christmas a special time. Seeing them all together at Glenroyd brings comfort in the knowledge that they still have people who care for them and give them a life they deserve. The team at Glenroyd are truly amazing and I'm so very grateful to each and everyone of the staff.
My dad has been a resident for the past 12 months. Going into residential care was his worst nightmare but sadly as his condition deteriorated he had no choice but to receive permanent support. The staff at the Glenroyd have been amazing. Their friendly, supportive, sensitive approach and understanding has helped to make a difficult transition into a more manageable situation. Dad is much more relaxed and his quality of life is greatly improved. One of the many outstanding features at the Glenroyd is that all members of staff, irrelevant of their role, know the residents and chat to them. It creates a real family atmosphere.
Amazing care given to my beautiful grandma. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone on the team. They made us all welcome and cared for her and ourselves when the time came to say our goodbyes. They really are angels sent from above. Words will never be able to fully express how thankful as a family we are for all their support.
Just want to say such a huge thank you to all the staff that helped and looked after my mum. There are too many to name but she loved you all and was grateful for all you did for her. She was extremely happy here and was made so comfortable and made to feel that this was her own home. Again I cannot thank the staff enough for all the love and care they gave me and my family. They all went over and beyond for us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They helped us through a very tough time especially yesterday when my beautiful mum died. Words will never be enough to thank you. You truly are 'angels'. Thank you once again from myself and my family. With our love and thanks.
My mum moved into this care home in March 2023 with early signs of dementia, confusion, depression and no longer able to live independently. Mum is now content, well cared for and safe. The staff are caring, pleasant and have encouraged Mum to mix with other residents which have improved her quality of life and provided relief for her family.
My Mum stayed at Glenroyd Care Home for a week's respite to give myself and my husband a little break. Mum has Alzheimer's/Dementia. She was very well cared for and seemed very happy. Family visitors kept me informed as they visited daily, also I was able to video call her. Staff are very friendly and always getting residents involved with various activities. Mum even had all her nails painted pink. She was over the moon. Can't fault a thing. Spotless lovely rooms. I highly recommend Barchester Glenroyd and will definitely book Mum in again for our next little break. 5 Stars.
