View Full Details of Solent Cliffs Nursing HomeMy brothers and I have been impressed by the welcome and warmth shown to our brother since his arrival in the summer. Despite his dementia, he has regained some speech after several years previously when he was unable to say much at all. We are sure this is due to the stimulating activities provided by the care home. We've also noted that his awareness and concentration have improved. All the staff are such caring and understanding people. He could not be in better hands. His bedroom has room for all his books and the maintenance staff kindly put up his favourite pictures. We can visit at any time we want and are always made very welcome indeed. We could not be more delighted with Solent Cliffs.
My sister, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the kindness, warmth and consideration that was shown to us and of course my dad. He was only in their care for 5 days but all they did for us all was exceptional. The home is a well-run establishment and all the staff have shown us such sympathy and understanding and indeed empathy. We are so glad Dad ended his days in such a wonderful home.
My sister recently arrived at Solent Cliffs Nursing Home from a care home in another area. From the outset, she was welcomed with a smile and reassurance from all staff. Staff appear happy and caring, treating residents with dignity and respect. My sister has now accepted help with personal care something she refused at her previous care home although it was needed. It's been good to see her begin to participate in some of the activities especially music events as music is her passion. I feel now I can relax knowing that my sister is safe and being looked after in a caring and thoughtful manner. Thank you to the Solent Cliffs team for all they do. It's a happy and caring environment.
This care home is truly a wonderful place, not only do all the staff care for residents but they also make sure the relatives and visitors are cared too. They are so very understanding of the big changes families are going through and are ready and willing to help in every situation. This place is very clean, organised and extremely friendly.
I am overwhelmed by the kindness and understanding displayed by all staff. This home is more like home in every sense of the word. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone. It is extremely clean. The staff put residents and families a total ease. The food is incredible. The residents are very safe and loved! I love it here.
I trust my parents are well cared for, their varying needs being met, particularly as a couple. The staff understand my parents and their interaction/relationship of their marriage, which can sometimes be a challenge! I feel that they are treated accordingly with sensitivity and understanding. And I feel that I am cared for in equal measure. Thank you.
When someone you love goes into a home and you visit, you’re watching everything. You don’t miss a thing. I am pleased to say that the atmosphere within the home, especially the lounge, is wonderfully relaxing. The way the staff and residents interact with each other is special, they laugh together and they seem to know what each resident needs and reacts to things. I am loving the relaxed atmosphere amongst everyone, the staff, the residents and the visitors, is friendly, fun and very relaxed. I must also state that a lady who is part of the management team is superb! Nothing is too much trouble for her and she truly cares that the residents are respected and well looked after.
My sister received end-of-life care in the Solent Cliffs Nursing Home for three weeks in January 2024. I was very impressed with the level of care shown to my sister. She was treated with care and respect and enjoyed the entertainment every Friday/Wednesday. I wish to thank several of the staff, including the manager, for their care to my sister.
My husband is being very well looked after by all staff. When I visit I'm able to take our dog in as well, which he looks forward to. He is blind so being able to touch and feel the dog gives him much comfort and most of the staff enjoy seeing her and make a fuss, which she loves.
After reviewing 15 other care homes and a poor experience for 4 months at a purpose-built home, we placed Mum in the Solent Cliffs Nursing Home. We can honestly say that we wholeheartedly agree with the 5-star reviews already given to the home. All the staff from the nurses, carers, activity co-ordinators, domestic and not least catering, are highly capable, proactive, kind and attentive. We were looking for a home that would support my mum's Dementia, Incontinence, Macular degeneration, worsening mobility issues and increasing nursing requirements. Solent Cliffs is excelling in supporting all of these conditions whilst keeping her safe, engaged and interacting with other residents and staff. The last 2022 Care Quality Commission assessment does not reflect the excellent standards that are now operating under the leadership of the care home manager. For the first time since Mum moved into a care home, we now have peace of mind that she is being looked after properly.
My mother required a nursing home placement following a nasty fall and a period of time in hospital. She was physically and emotionally fragile and totally overwhelmed by events. When she arrived at Solent Cliffs the staff were welcoming, helpful, kind and professional. They all took time to get to know my mother and to make her feel safe and cared for. My mother had wounds which needed nursing care and monitoring. The nursing staff were attentive and her wounds healed well. Staff were responsive to our requests and available to answer questions. Visitors were always welcomed with a smile. The team ethic is strong; staff have good relationships with each other and this is reflected in their care for the residents. Their practices are consistent and resident-focused. Staff interaction with residents was always positive, even on busy days, the needs of the residents were their priority. I felt reassured my mother would be safe. We very much appreciated the use of the coffee lounge and its outlook on the beautifully tended garden; the colourful flower displays were truly an aid to well-being and recovery. Thank you. We wish to extend our grateful thanks to everyone at Solent Cliffs. This was a funded placement - I don't know the costings for this home. I would just like to mention that the toilet in my mother's room was extremely low - she often struggled to get on/off unless supported. I would have expected that the toilets would be raised or a taller style, to make using it easier for residents likely to have mobility problems. At home, we have installed a toilet which is 50 cm at seat height.
My mother became a resident at Sikebt Cliffs following a fall and a stay in the hospital early in 2023. From day on, we have found the care to ve of the highest quality, and I cannot speak too highly of all members of staff concerned. Nothing is too much trouble, and I particularly like the way my mother is treated like an individual and spoken to on a personal level by name, not just a number. Definitely 10/10 for this nursing home.
Solent Cliffs cared for my dad for the final three weeks of his life. Solent Cliffs were recommended by another local nursing home that couldn't meet Dad's needs themselves. Initially, we took Dad to Solent Cliffs to provide Mum with respite, but it quickly became clear that Dad would not be returning home. The Solent Cliffs team were quick to understand our needs and to work with all of us to provide appropriate care. Despite Dad's brief stay, he settled in quickly and seemed to like all of the staff that he met. When we visited, the staff were always friendly and helpful. One member of staff even sat and held his hand as he passed away. We were kept informed of Dad's condition throughout. We definitely made the right decision in choosing Solent Cliffs.
NHS were unable to call or find a place in the hospital for my 100-year-old mother, so I rang this nursing home, and they immediately reacted to my problem, and within two hours, my mother was tucked up in a clean, warm bed and has been with them ever since. She is happy and receives 24-hour care.
My father was cared for by the team at Solent Cliffs for the final three months of his life too late June 22. Dad had very challenging needs, physically and mentally, with his Dementia and Diabetic issues. I cannot thank all of the staff enough for their care, support and kindness throughout this period. If you are fortunate enough for your loved one to be placed here, then I am sure you will be very pleased with the overall level of care and support. Thank you again from all our family.
Mum was at Solent Cliffs for nearly four years until she had a massive stroke in December 2021. Many nurses and staff were very caring and proficient. However, I believe it does not deserve a “Good” rating which was achieved by “playing the game”. The Directors and Management are poor, presiding over poor construction, maintenance, and health and safety practices. There were four managers in about a year. Mum had about one hundred days where the facilities in her room were inadequate, with little momentum to solve the issues e.g. heater not working for long periods in winter, no fan in a heatwave, toilet not working, electricity off, water leaks, etc. In my view some of these incidents were inexcusable. There were other unsatisfactory events. In the global pandemic communication to relatives was inadequate. I asked the current manager “Why have you not continued with the monthly updates sent by the previous manager” and she replied in writing “This is not policy but managers preference”!
Solent Cliffs was the home of choice after the ratification process by the NHS continuing healthcare team and adult services after Mum had a fracture in a home in Aug 2019. Mum came here in Oct 2019, and are grateful that Mum would be at this special place that I called home for Mum in her final days. Mum was suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s, meaning she had very challenging domains. Despite the issues that the staff and myself had with the clinical commissioning group regarding mums 1-2-1 care, not once did they waiver with Mums care, ensuring that her needs were met above all else. All of the staff are a credit to the care sector. Day or night, I knew that Mum was in safe hands. Mum loved all of the staff here, as I did, always working diligently with love, care and compassion. As Mum slowly slipped away, as tough as it was to see, I could see that all of the staff were going to miss her chats, laugh and posh voice. Of all the places I could wish that Mum could see her final days, I am so appreciative it was here.
In the time that Mum spent in Solent Cliffs, I have always found the care and attention of both social care and medical care to have been of an excellent standard. The care and compassion given to residents are outstanding.
A friend has been a resident for some 5-months and sadly passed away today. In fairness to the staff, he was difficult and obstinate, towards the end of his life refusing to get out of bed and refusing both food and medication. However, I believe that the nursing staff went beyond the call of duty to endure his comfort and well-being. The admin team were both helpful and supportive to friends and relatives. In all highly recommended.
Right from my initial enquiry concerning end of life care for my mother and her transfer from hospital to the prompt collection of her corpse by the funeral directors, I was impressed by the professional managers of Solent Cliffs. My particular gratitude is owed to the staff, who, without exceptions, were capable, courteous and helpful at all times. The only reservation I have about Solent Cliffs is attributable to the fact that it was not a purpose-built facility; it consists of subsequent extensions, and the narrow corridors resemble nothing as much as a rabbit-warren. I was allowed access to my mother as wished.
