View Full Details of Abbeyfield LoughboroughThis is the second time that my dad has had respite care and I am more impressed than last time. The staff made a fantastic effort to make Christmas extra special for all. The manager has time for everyone and knows all the residents. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Mum was a bit wary about going into a home but she soon settled in and made friends and enjoyed the singing and the animal visitors plus the nursery children. She loved to have a bit of a chat with the staff who looked after her very well. Mum sadly passed away and family members were allowed to stay overnight with her to the end. It was lovely to be able to personalise her room and know she was safe. Thanks for caring for our mum. However, it's good to read you are not using many agency staff now.
The regular care staff made an effort to treat Mum as an individual and ensured she was dressed appropriately and had her crosswords and colouring books to hand when she transferred to the lounge from her room. Unfortunately, the agency staff did not take the same care and during Mum's time in the home, there was a lot of agency staff being used. We were allowed to personalise Mum's room and the handyman was helpful in putting up Mum's pictures in her room. Mum loved the activities, however, despite a timetable being put up weekly I often went in and found the activity wasn't happening. Why? again since Mum passed away I know they have employed a new activities lead. The regular hairdresser and chiropodist were a bonus as Mum liked to look after her appearance. When Mum became ill the staff were very good at looking after her and us as a family in her last few days of life and there was no question about her being able to stay there.
Abbeyfield cared for our mum with dementia for a year. Sadly our beloved mum has died now, but she had a lot of empathy, care and support from all the staff, especially in her last days. Mum loved the activities at the home and a couple of residents became her friends and gave her quality of life to the end. The kindness and support the manager and all the carers gave to us as a family in Mum's last days went above and beyond and enabled us to sleep next to Mum and be with her till the last. All carers came to say goodbye to Mum and showed her love and respect to the end. Mum moving there was the best decision for her for her care needs and social stimulation and peace of mind for her family that she was safe and was 'living again' rather than just existing.
Ingleside House, Loughborough. Ingleside House appears to be the 'poor relation' compared with Westfield at Abbeyfield, Loughborough. The regular staff were excellent in all aspects and worked so hard, but some bank staff were below par. Too much reliance on bank staff at Ingleside, which impaired efficiency due to constant changes in personnel and can confuse residents. Less bank staff would have meant a higher star rating being given. The rooms are spacious and fitted out well especially the wet rooms. Residents were left in chairs watching often inappropriate programmes on TV for too long. Little attempt at conversation with residents by most bank staff. Residents able to converse should be encouraged to do so rather than just retreat into themselves. Not enough help with mobility eg. chair exercises, yoga, active games or basic physiotherapy. Whilst improvements were undoubtedly made during my mother's residency there is still some way to go.
Abbeyfield Westfield Drive has overcome adversity by the recruitment of a dedicated hard-working manager and the retention of a team of loyal staff. The seniors and care staff are kind and compassionate even under the most difficult of circumstances. The catering staff offer an excellent variety of nutritional meals for residents and alternatives where possible. Residents rooms are kept clean and tidy and the laundry is done with great dedication. My mum has been a resident for 2 1/2 years and Abbeyfield was the best decision I made on her behalf. Abbeyfield has a warm and home-from-home feeling. The gardens are tranquil with sensory plants, architectural ornaments and seating areas which is beneficial to the residents and visitors. Activities are organised on a monthly basis for residents and family/friends are welcome to join in, so it's like one big family. In summary, I am more than pleased with the care my mum receives from a lovely dedicated team of staff that really do care about the residents.
My mum has been in Abbeyfield for just over a year. I have always found the home very caring, helpful and very supportive to both me and my mum.
My wife with Vascular Dementia entered Abbeyfield Loughborough new Ingleside House In February 2023. She has a spacious room and ensuite wet room. She is receiving careful and warm care from very kind teams. The large ground floor lounge and dining area is a welcoming and friendly place, with pleasant views out into the sensory garden. The food is well prepared. Residents are not expected to choose their cooked lunch from a written menu, but are offered the choices on two served-up plates. Beneath it all, Abbeyfield is constituted as a Charity, not as a business owned by financial interests with eyes on dividend payments. This charitable status shows itself in the ethos that oozes out of its work,
I am so pleased that we chose Abbeyfield Loughborough for my husband’s care. I am very happy with his care. All the staff are all very cheerful, friendly, and look after all their clients. They know and are interested in each individual residence. Always happy to help. The rooms are always clean and fresh. It is also nice that there is a garden that the residents are free to use when the sun is out. There are chairs tables and sun shades and a big shady tree for them all. A happy place to sit. Residents enjoy the food and there are snacks and drinks available all day at all times. I always feel very welcome every time I visit. Always offered a coffee or tea.
Our mum went through a very bad few months around a year ago (August 2022) after entering the world of care homes in the summer of 2021. Our mother came to be in Abbeyfield after this bad experience and she was very upset and unsettled. Since being in Abbeyfield she has had excellent care and is extremely settled and well looked after and we can't thank the staff enough for putting our minds at rest and taking away any worries we had of our mum's care with her condition and deteriorating capacity due to her Alzheimers. Nowhere is ever perfect and you can always find fault and want for more, but with our experience of two other care homes, Abbeyfield has been extremely good for our mum, hence the scores and review. We would not hesitate to recommend Abbeyfield.
My mum stayed at Abbeyfield In Loughborough for a short period of respite care and I was very pleased with the whole experience. The care staff were excellent and her room in the new Ingleside House was ideal for her.
My dear husband has been professionally and caringly looked after by the Abbeyfield Loughborough community for over four years. He is in the best situation possible, and I am confident that he is looked after in the best possible way. My own health issues restrict visiting, but I am reassured by regular reports of his health and welfare. My sincere thanks to all the staff involved.
The warm welcoming team at Westfield House have ensured Dad has had a wholly positive experience of moving to residential care. The support offered to both him and us, his family, is greatly appreciated. We feel close to Dad and visits both in person and, when necessary because of COVID restrictions, in other ways have been very enjoyable. Dad has been able to enjoy activities that are obviously matched to his interests and his smile is joyful. The team certainly go above and beyond to ensure Dad is not only cared for but that he is happy and valued.
My Mam has been a resident for nearly four years. It’s lovely to of found a care home for her which looks after her so well. She feels at home there and her needs are always catered for. For the family that’s all, you could wish for. I would always be pleased to recommend this home.
Staff are very friendly and kind. They are jolly with my mother-in-law and keen to encourage her to join in.
I count myself extremely lucky to have placed my father in the care of Abbeyfield. Actually, it is not Abbeyfield that cares, but the amazing staff that treat him as if he was their own elderly relative, always with dignity, love and respect. They made his transition into full-time care, easy and positive, always encouraging and stimulating, with daily activities and outside visitors. I would highly recommend to everyone.
I was highly delighted when my Mum was accepted into care at Abbeyfield, because it has an excellent reputation. When she came with us to the home, she was given a lovely welcome. There is a cheerful look and feel to the place, and the staff are friendly, caring and constantly attentive to the needs of the residents. The room my Mum is staying in is bright and cheerful, with a lovely view of the courtyard and its flower beds and trees. There is a lovely atmosphere pervading the place, and a lot of activities in the week to keep the residents engaged. The spiritual needs of residents are also catered for by visiting churches who visit to take services. Mum is very happy and settled, which means the world to us as a family. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbeyfield to anyone enquiring.
My mother has been at Abbeyfields for eight months and we have been extremely happy with her care and the facilities at Abbeyfields - Loughborough. There are activities and events on a daily basis to stimulate and entertain the residents. All areas have a high standard of decoration and the outside areas are well laid out and inviting, particularly the sensory garden.
My mother has been a resident of Abbeyfield Loughborough for over 3 years. The staff are very caring and considerate and her feelings and point of view are always respected. She has been made to feel part of the Abbeyfield family and looks upon Westfield House as her home. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbeyfield Loughborough to anyone who is need of a dementia care home for a family member.
Abbeyfield has a lovely homely atmosphere. There is always something going on, so the residents are stimulated and are encouraged to participate with games, music and crafts. Having mum at Abbeyfield gives me peace of mind, as I know she is well cared for. I am always kept up to date, by the seniors, with any concerns or health issues. The staff are more like friends and are very approachable and helpful. I would not want my mum to be cared for anywhere else and would highly recommend Abbeyfield.
