View Full Details of The Mill House Nursing HomeVery good.
My husband has been at The Mill House nearly 4 years. It's a lovely place, bright and homely. The staff are lovely and very caring. they have a lot of things going on for the residents. They go out for trips for those who are able to go. They attend to my husband's needs and keep me informed of any problems he is going through. He is settled and happy there in his little world. So glad he's in such a lovely home with lovely people looking after him. Can't thank you enough for all you do and the hard work you put in and make me feel welcome when I visit.
I have had a very nice time at The Mill House Nursing Home. The staff have been very good to me, very caring and friendly. They make you feel like part of their family in the home. I will miss them all very much. Also the residents are lovely.
My mum has recently been placed at Mill House and I can honestly say I’m very impressed. I saw her the other day in a chair for the first time in nearly 2 years so glad with the progress so far. She is so much happier and the house is beautiful. She has gone from living alone and not speaking to anyone to having people around her to talk to. Have no complaints at all and would highly recommend it. Also great that it is very dog-friendly.
Mum has been living at Mill House since October 2023. She never wanted to go into a care home but Mill House has changed all that. She settled in really quickly and seems very happy. Me and my brother know that she is safe and very well cared for. She is being encouraged to join in all the lovely activities that are regularly organised from singing in the garden to meeting furry friends. She loves the staff and enjoys the meals. The staff are incredibly friendly and really attentive. Mill House is a beautiful place inside and outside, and has a lovely atmosphere. It’s right near the river too so Mum can enjoy the peaceful beauty and get close to nature. Thank you to the manager and her wonderful team.
My mother spent her last days in Mill House. It was an upsetting time for us all but I have to say the staff treated my mother as an individual, this was very important to us. We were able to take her own quilt bed linen and pillows in all things that were important to Mum. The nurses and carers were wonderful and seemed happy in their roles which was reflected in their work. In fact, all the staff we came across were wonderful. Mum had a good relationship with the staff and would always have a joke with them. Mum was in the home from October until the beginning of December 2023.
Mill House exceeds our expectations providing a warm and welcoming environment. The staff demonstrate genuine compassion and create a supportive atmosphere. Overall it is a home from home for my father and prioritises the well-being and comfort of its residents.
My mother is a resident at The Mill House Nursing Home and is receiving good care and attention. She is supported by the staff who are helpful and kind and will always provide assistance. My mother's experience and day to day care is exemplary and keeping my mother comfortable and happy is the most important thing to me. The Mill House has a friendly and homely atmosphere and it is most reassuring to know my mother is in a safe place and is well cared for.
My aunt was only a resident for two days as she passed away very quickly. Without exception the staff were so kind and caring and professional, ensuring she had oxygen and pain relief, but also someone holding her hand when we weren’t there. They treated her as an individual despite her recent admission. It was lovely for her to have her friends to visit without restrictions. They were also so kind to me and my family, making us feel welcome too.
My dad was admitted to The Mill House Nursing Home after being in hospital for ten weeks following a stroke which left him very poorly, but the whole team look after him and have got to understand him. They have done wonders with my dad, they are so caring and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. However long my dad has with us, I know he is in the best place and looked after so well. I cannot praise them all enough.
My darling Dad was very fortunate to spend his last days being cared for as a palliative service user at Mill House after a nearly nine-month fight in hospital following a series of strokes. The personal care and attention he received from the whole team at Mill House was beyond any expectation or hope that we could have wished for. Despite being really very poorly, the whole team took time to understand him as an individual; his likes and dislikes and just who he really was as a man. They were also fantastically supportive to me, my husband, Dad's friends who visited as well as his sister and her partner, leaving us all with a feeling of absolute trust that he was as important to all the people supporting him as he was to us, his family and friends. An incredibly special factor was taking in his beloved dog so that all the right goodbyes could be said. We will all think so fondly of Mill House and the calm, caring passing that Dad was able to have.
Slightly late but better late than never. The Mill House Nursing Home looked after my mother in law for just over a month. They were absolutely fantastic with her and us and nothing was too much trouble. My mother in law was in hospital for numerous months before being moved into Mill House, unlike the hospital we could visit whenever we wanted including taking her young grandsons into see her which she enjoyed very much. Unfortunately, she took poorly just before Christmas 2021 and passed away on 2nd January 2022 peacefully in hospital. Mill House were so kind when we told them and even sorted her items and possessions out and packed them up for us to collect so we didn’t have to have the worry of doing so as would have been extremely raw. Thank you to each and every one of you who helped with the care of my Mother In law. It was so very appreciated.
Thank you to all the staff at Mill House who have worked in extremely difficult situations, during the pandemic period. Whenever visiting our relative (in care), we have always found the cleanliness of the room and clean presentation of the bedding and personal clothing spotless. After the initial settling-in period and adjustments, any issues with our relative have been aired and adjusted in a sensitive way. Well done to all those who presented the Open Garden Day in September. It was great.
I was very impressed with how everything is set up for visiting. It was lovely to visit inside.
I recently visited my mother inside The Mill House Nursing Home. The whole process was handled very professionally, and my mother was able to see me "in person" for the first time in many months. I had previously visited her in the pod. The home has done an excellent job in enabling residents to keep in touch with their families.
Visiting indoors was allowed for the first time in 12-months. I was desperate to see her, but dreading if she didn't know me or want me. After the safety introduction and wearing the correct PPE, I was taken to see my wife - the carer who had helped her went into the room, and I followed; her face lit up the whole room and she said "my grumpy's here" and held her hand out so we could touch for the first time in 12-months. She looked really good, alert, clean, and with it. During the lockdown, the staff have been awesome. My wife has put weight on, becoming more social, and her condition has improved. Her room was clean, and everything was exactly where it was before visiting was stopped. I knew the housekeeper would not let her standards drop. I have said it before, but Mill House has no weak links, everyone is brilliant and doing a superb job. They are well led, also making sure every resident is safe. I have my wife back, no money can buy that!
Deeply impressed. Great facilities and staff that truly care. During the coronavirus crisis, they took in my father and cared for him like family. I can't recommend the place enough, at the time of writing they have managed to avoid any cases of COVID here by being sensible and diligent. The staff have gone the extra mile and made my dad's last few months as enjoyable as they could be. Thank you.
My mum became a resident of Mill House in December 2019 having been diagnosed with terminal cancer 12 months previously. Despite not being in her own home with dad, mum was happy at Mill House; primarily because she understood the level of care needed could no longer be provided at home. For the first 4 months, we made the best out of the situation and Mill House were always helpful, for example, I'd come and pick mum up on Tuesdays to take her down into the City Centre to see her friends and they always had mum ready and waiting with everything she needed. When the Coronavirus lockdown occurred, things became very difficult, and Mill House did their utmost to make sure we could see mum through her window, and on the rare occasion when the weather and mum were OK, in the garden. Having a loved one in a nursing home is tough and I can't imagine there are too many happy stories, however, my mum was mostly happy and felt safe and that meant a lot to us.
This is my first visit to an old lady resident here so I don't feel qualified to tick the boxes accurately. The old lady resident here seems very happy here and independent.
I have been here for 5 years and am very happy. My boys and girls treat me with respect and dignity and as a human. We laugh together but sadly sometimes we cry together. I have complete faith and trust in all of them. They have kept me safe during the pandemic, they worked long hours just to ensure all residents were safe. The management saw I was missing my husband and did everything they could so I could safely see him. We had drive-through visits, garden visits and behind glass visits but most of all we had safe visits. I have started to put weight on at last. I don't need to name individuals, they are all worth a mention - they are all premier league to me.
Very good.
