View Full Details of Thorp HouseMy sister has been in Thorp House care for several months now and I couldn't wish for her to be in better care, she is very happy there and loves to get involved in all the activities, which seem to be considerable as well as trips out. She had been in 2/3 temporary care homes but was not happy, here in Thorp House she is absolutely settled, with very caring and sympathetic staff. Before this, I was always worried about medication as she is diabetic and would get her medication muddled but she is now supervised so no problem there. Whilst I am unable to visit, I am kept fully informed by her son and daughter . I would like to thank the staff at Thorp House for taking such good care of my sister.
Since Mum has been here she has been very, very happy, well entertained with amazing staff and activities. Would recommend to anyone.
We very much appreciate the positive and friendly culture of everyone at Thorp House - and the efforts to accommodate our brother's needs at this challenging time for him. We have found all the staff very approachable and willing to discuss any issues.
My husband has been in Thorp House since Easter, and what a wonderful place for him to live. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone is so kind and caring, and I feel it's really helped me to heal, knowing he is well looked after. There us always something for him to join in with if he so wishes, and he loves breakfast club. A big thank you to all the staff you are amazing.
Thorp House is amazing, the care and kindness my brother receives is outstanding. My brother can be difficult at times, the staff deal with these difficulties with patience and kindness. The staff are exceptional, from the nurses, carers, domestic and kitchen staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. It's an excellent place to be if you need care or respite.
My respite care for two weeks was really good food was good (as an RAF chef) care was very good and would come back. Everything I asked to be done was done for me with quickness and enthusiasm from everyone.
I am very pleased to be able to express my views on Thorp House, I have been visiting fairly regularly for quite some time now, ever since my friend has taken up residence. It's been quite a revelation, the openness of all the staff to the residents is truly remarkable, so very warm and friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble, I have seen this time and again.
Moved mum into Thorp House 2 weeks ago from another home out of area. Beautiful home, wonderful caring staff. Thank you Thorp for making this easier for Mum and us. Mum seems to be settling well which isn't easy as she's been through so much over the last year with losing my sister and my dad then falling and fracturing her hip. Everyone is so calm and compassionate which is just what Mum needs. Sadly we believe dementia is advancing and we know this will be just the right home for Mum.
Friend of resident. Come and do activities with residents from Hingham Bowls Club.
Always very impressed with Thorp House when we visit my grandma. The staff are always very friendly and show great care for my grandma. Being 104 she has a number of care requirements, but the staff at Thorp House cater for these exceptionally. Since arriving at Thorp House my grandma's health has improved significantly, she is now the best I have ever seen her. This is no doubt down to the high standard of care she receives, the excellent facilities/room my grandma has access to, plus the wide-ranging activities she gets to participate in. I'm always very impressed by Thorp House.
A great friendly atmosphere, the staff are wonderful in a very nice setting.
Dad is extremely happy in Thorp House after living independently for 95 years. He is always clean and tidy when I visit. Baths are looked forward to. He enjoys the food, which is of a very high standard. I speak from experience. The carers are first-rate, very caring and efficient. The best I've come across. The activities taking place are varied. Dad especially enjoys trips out.
I attend Thorp House once a month to visit a resident and help to give the residents a chance to play bowls from their wheelchairs. On each occasion the staff are very welcoming and the residents keen to play. The house is always clean and the staff very attentive to the needs of the residents. It is a pleasure to visit and see them enjoy the activities.
The level of care is exceptional and my mum has improved into her 104 years as a result. Mixing with others and joining with games and projects has helped no end. She is always cheerful, lovely and clean, well-dressed and converses nonstop. There could be no better place for her to live.
Since my mother-in-law has been a resident in Thorp House she has been given the best of care. The staff are very friendly and Mum appears to be very happy there. The atmosphere of the home is exceptional. As an ex-nurse I can see the level of care is excellent. The last time I came there was a singer who played and sang with the residents. All of whom were enjoying themselves. The staff are exceptionally kind and caring to all.
From the start we had a good gut feeling about the home and its staff; we were encouraged to visit whenever we wanted, nothing was hidden, nothing was too much trouble and they treated Dad as they would want their relative treated. There is a lovely, warm and friendly atmosphere with fun and laughter in abundance, great activities including games, a disco, and D-day and July 4th celebrations all within the few weeks Dad was there. The gardens are lovely, too and used whenever weather permits! As a family we knew he'd never come home but knew too that the staff would do their best to make his last few weeks as happy and comfortable as they could be. And they did. All of them: housekeeping, chefs, night staff, managers, maintenance and carers. We cannot thank them enough for looking after him for us and being so incredibly kind when he died. It is testament to their genuinely caring attitude that so many came to pay their respects, say goodbye and console with a grieving family.
I am a private carer and visit many of my past clients who have now moved in to care homes to match their ongoing needs. I can safely say that Thorp House is by far the best around from what I have witnessed. The staff are friendly and always about in abundance. No sign of being short staffed unlike other homes I have visited. There is a lovely atmosphere in the shared spaces. I always feel comforted on leaving that my lovely lady is being looked after very well.
From day one, the care my husband has received has been excellent. The staff, nurses and carers are all so kind and caring. They make sure that he is clean, fed and medically cared for. The support staff, e.g. cleaners etc., are always pleasant and exchange little chats to make my husband feel comfortable. I have been made very welcome, offers of hot food and drinks.
My dad has only been at Thorp House since the beginning of December. Dad has advanced vascular dementia, and Mum has been his carer, but it just got too much for her. Having been married for 63 years, putting him into a care home was a difficult decision. On our visits, prior to him moving in, all the staff made us feel welcome, were friendly, caring and helpful and put us at ease straight away. The home had a wonderful atmosphere, and we liked it immediately. After visiting Thorp House, we didn't even consider another care home for my dad. Dad has settled in extremely well. Thorp House has a wonderful team of dedicated staff who are kind and caring towards every resident, and my dad is well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They encourage Dad to participate in the different activities they offer each day. The food looks and smells delicious. I cannot fault the staff who make Thorp House the wonderful, welcoming home that it is for all its residents.
Our family friend took up residence at Thorpe House in November 2021 following discharge from the hospital. She was elderly (91 years) with multiple health problems, including the initial stages of dementia and recurring leg ulcers that the health service had been unable to cure/improve. She had suffered regular bouts of depression following the loss of her husband of 71 years. Within months of her taking up residence at Thorpe House, the leg ulcer was cured, she returned to eating and enjoying her food, and her weight, which had become worryingly low, began to increase. Unfortunately, in the past two years, she has suffered Covid twice and a mini-stroke plus a chest infection. On every occasion, she has received the utmost care and kindness from the staff and, despite her frailty, has always recovered. The home is comfortable and spotlessly clean, and residents truly feel that they are 'at home'. An excellent regular entertainment programme is appreciated and enjoyed by the residents.
