View Full Details of Southwoods Nursing HomeIt's lovely to see such an improvement in my mother-in-law. She has improved physically and mentally since being a resident at Southwood Care Home.
My mum has been in the home since January. Since been here she has come on leaps and bounds and made a few friends that she sits with in the lounge. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. She is very happy with the choice and standard of the food. In mum's words there's nothing to complain about.
Had my auntie in here for , unfortunately, a very short time due to her ongoing health situation. Southwoods were able to accommodate her at very short notice which was hugely helpful. The staff, in all roles, were always friendly, helpful and professional. Immensely grateful to the staff and administration of this home for their care and professionalism.
My father was offered a place in Southwoods Nursing Home on short notice after his discharge from the hospital because the deputy manager and admin staff were incredibly helpful and worked to get him a room as soon as possible. The nurses and carers have been welcoming, compassionate, and friendly people who have always been a pleasure to talk to when visiting my father. They help to brighten this dark time for my family, with my father's dementia progressing rapidly. The staff listens to any concerns we may have and works to ensure my father is as comfortable as possible. They even managed to get my father to take part in activities such as arranging flowers which he wouldn't usually do.
Generally it is a good place to be, a friendly atmosphere, good food and nice staff. The room is OK, but a little old fashioned. Visiting very flexible, especially for those travelling. Mum is very settled and comfortable here and has made a few new friends.
Happy with the care my father receives, everyone tries hard and he seems comfortable as he can be !I know most people now and I feel OK visiting the room is light and airy and the room is nice and warm,
My Father was transferred from the Hospital to Southwoods Nursing Home for EOL Nursing care. The Carers at Southwoods were all professional, caring, respectful, and compassionate in their care for my Father. Thank you Southwoods.
Since my mum became a resident, she seems settled and has put on weight. Any issues with her health and well-being that have arisen have been handled well. The amount of activities offered is very good and staff ensure residents feel included when activities are taking place.
Since my mum moved in on the 13th October the care she has received has been first class, she feels save, secure and we have no concerns. I have been made very welcome from all the staff nothing has been to much trouble. Thank You for the care you are giving to my mum.
I/we can't express enough the kindness I/we see when visiting. The home is changing and improving as the months go on. The staff are so happy, they greet us as friends, we're made to feel welcome and most of all we're given the comfort of good care. The home just seems to go from strength to strength and it's a pleasure to see. The activities ladies, all we can say is wow, they make every effort to bring as much joy to a person's life. Our dear friend has been in care settings for some time now and by far this is the most assured we have ever felt. Thank you to everyone, you do your home every justice.
My next of kin has been at South Woods for four years now she is very happy, not so long ago she was in hospital and she just wanted to go 'home' back to Southwoods. She can not do anything for herself, the staff are all friendly and supportive to her and me. The food is wonderful, they do a Christmas dinner on Christmas Day for the residents and family so we can spend Christmas together, they always celebrate birthdays with cake and afternoon tea for all. They arrange raffles and anything made from raffles etc go to residents' fund so they can have good outings and entertainment. I don’t think my next of kin would still be with us if not for the caring loveliest staff. We thank you very much.
All fine. Staff helpful and friendly. Mum seems settled in Southwoods, and cheerful.
Southwoods care home and staff have supported both Mum and our family with professionalism, compassion and kindness. The care is excellent, we make regular visits and it is lovely to hear the staff chatting with Mum whilst feeding her the meals. Excellent team. Thank you for your service.
First-class nursing home - five stars. Excellent staff. Top class - spotless. Thanks.
During my mother's stay at Southwoods, I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Living 300 miles away, I could not visit very regularly. My daily contact by phone to speak with Mum was never a problem and the staff cheerfully took the phone to Mum so that I could have a conversation. If I had any questions about Mum's welfare, eating habits or visitors she had had they were able to look at Mum's notes and let me know. Not having to pre book a visit, I could turn up anytime and always found Mum's cleanliness to be extremely good. The staff were very accommodating and cheerful. Mum had daily visits from her friends in the area and not a single one raised any concern about Mum's care. Thank you all for caring for Mum in what sadly turned out to be for only a short time.
My father was in Southwoods for just over a year. Right from the start, he was made very welcome by the staff. He passed away recently, but in the time spent at Southwoods, he had grown to love the staff, and likewise, the staff loved him. He didn't want to go into a home, but they made his last year a happy one.
My aunt was admitted for end of life care directly from the hospital. She was immediately happier and eating hearty food provided by the home. She talked about each member of staff and how kind they all were. When we visited, we were warmly welcomed and shown where she was at that time (eg, in the dining room or her bedroom). They were in regular contact giving us updates on her medical condition. Sadly, my aunt's illness meant that she deteriorated quickly, after only a month in the nursing home, but during that time, we were able to sit with her for as long as we wished, and the staff provided us frequently with refreshments, including freshly prepared food. Every member of staff - nurses, care assistants administrative and support staff - were so kind. Our family cannot thank them enough.
Although my father has been a resident for a short while (6-months), the care and attention have been excellent. At 102, his physicality is failing, but his mind is still very sharp, so the banter between him and the staff, from the cleaners to top management, is very reassuring and makes his life at the home acceptable to someone who's been an independent businessman most of his life.
After such a bad year due to Covid-19 for everyone. My mother was on end of life care in March 2020. All of the staff, nurses and carers fought hard for her life and gave her 24-hour care, love and attention. I know for sure they all saved my mothers life. My mother tells me every day how much she loves me, but before I leave, tells me how much she loves all at Southwoods. It's a love that's true and spoken with love at age 92. Thank you isn't enough for all the love and care shown to my mother.
My husband has been in Southwoods for nearly six years. The care has been excellent, and have no complaints whatsoever.
