View Full Details of Barchester Dales Care HomeThe Dales is a very friendly, welcoming & efficiently run home, where my mother has settled in comfortably. Her care needs are met very well, the staff are very kind & caring & the accomodation is superb.
My mother arrived last May after a fall at home followed by a week in hospital. She was undernourished and very frail. After only a few weeks at the Dales, she had put on weight and was in a better state generally. Despite wishing she was still at home, she has become used to living in a care home and seems content. The care she receives is excellent.
Lovely nursing home in beautiful surroundings. The home is always kept clean and the décor is really nice. Staff are kind and friendly and they put on some great events for residents, including trips out in the minibus. Relatives are free to come and go as they wish and this often includes their animals! There is a nice homely atmosphere. Nursing staff always let you know about any health concerns and the food is good!
Care and attention good from all staff, sometimes just a small reminder required re. showering or bathing more often. Food and menus are very good and varied. Activities are excellent and varied. I know my husband is safe and secure and well looked after when away from the home. Only criticism, the corridor in the dementia area could be improved to replicate a more homely environment. Perhaps a new colour scheme, pictures and even carpeting could help.
Feel Mum is being very kindly looked after, she's comfortable. Staff are also very kind and welcoming whenever I visit and when my father visits with his carer (or with me). Activities are fun and cheerful, even if just to watch.
I am a regular visitor to the care home. I find the staff pleasant and personable. The care home is clean and tidy and my sister is well cared for and well attended to. In difficult circumstances she seems relaxed. My sister requires the highest level of care and I can see a lot of consideration has gone into her placement in her room so she can look out of the window and has a lovely view. Thank you for looking after her.
My sister-in-law seems relaxed and happy. Dementia apparent and mood swings determine my visits - sometimes clarity, often asleep. Confident that she is as happy as can be in her health circumstances.
Lovely staff who are great people and put up with a lot.
Carers, nurses, management and associated staff were all courteous, kind and professional from day one. There was definitely a team spirit in evidence with consistently high standards of care shown. Liason with the external health team was good and information shared appropriately. My mum's dignity was maintained at all times.
The Dales Care Home provides excellent care for my mum. The staff are extremely diligent, friendly and attentive to all my mum's needs. The food is amazing and the dining room gives residents the restaurant atmosphere. Activities are outstanding and the activities coordinator is a 'breath of fresh air' with lots of ideas making my mum's life in the home full of fun. I would highly recommend The Dales.
On the inside the care home is very well looked after and on the outside the gardens are first class. The comfort provided for the residents and visitors is very good. The care and consideration that the staff show to my relative, a resident, is outstanding. All the staff are very friendly to visitors and will help in any way they can. With regards to The Dales Care Home communicating with residents' families, they are very effective at doing this, which is appreciated.

I am pleased with the care my mum receives at The Dales. She is kept clean and her requirements are met. The staff are very pleasant and diligent and I am always informed of my mother's health and wellbeing.
Lovely friendly staff, professional and courteous. Never had any issues with communication which is excellent. We are always advised of any issues with my mum. Thank you to everyone at The Dales.
When my mother moved to The Dales from hospital it was a very worrying time, filled with guilt and the thought she needed care. The day she was brought from hospital I was allowed to be there to help her settle, which meant the world to me. She was distressed and anxious and the staff were amazing to her and me. The nurse said she was there for all of us always. Mam settled well due to the care of every staff member I met. I would highly recommend The Dales to anyone in the awful situation looking for care. Mam's health and wellbeing have come on so much that we have mam back.
On admission, I had expected to have a conversation about the resident's individual needs. This did happen and I was told I could leave. I wasn't expected that either. The upshot was that The Dales had to ring me at home twice for clarification and talk to me several times for clarification when I visited. Prior to residency, I had prepared a written list of information - this did not appear to have been looked at. Just a general comment - it is very difficult to hear what is being said over your telephone system.
The team at The Dales has worked wonders for Mum. When entering the home, Mum was suffering physical and mental issues. Recently we have seen amazing improvement and she is settled at The Dales. The RGN in particular in the last month has taken quick and responsive action to deal with hearing, eyesight, and dental issues now that restrictions are lifting. She has taken proper interest and shown exceptional care.
From the first call to enquire to placing my father-in-law into permanent care, the staff were courteous, helpful and professional. The place itself is in a beautiful setting with fabulous views of the countryside and in a quiet cul-de-sac. On entering the home the atmosphere is homely and friendly and every staff member we encountered was smiling and went above and beyond to offer assistance. It was a huge weight off our shoulders on leaving my father-in-law here and knowing that all his needs will be met by capable and caring staff and that he will be happy here, we slept for the first time in weeks.
Basically everything is excellent. Staff are wonderful and so helpful. Most food is good, occasionally excellent! Scrambled egg - never again! Packet? Management is sometimes difficult to find re queries. Once queries are discussed, a helpful outcome and usually prompt!
