View Full Details of Westfield House Care HomeMy dad came to Westfield House Care Home after a short stay at another care home as that was a short-term placement after a very bad fall resulting in him losing a lot of his mobility. He has been there for just under a year now and has made himself at home amongst the caring team at Westfield House. More than that, his confidence has grown once again - with the team encouraging him to use his iPad and one member of staff went out of her way to source a more modern mobile phone on her day off (so that all he had to do was go and pay for it and take the sim out of the one we bought him) so she could show him how to use it and get him up to speed. Dad is one of the lucky ones that is able to have some independence and can when he feels up can walk up to the local shop or down a nice quiet lane to get some fresh air. Long may his time be happy there.
The team have been wonderful in welcoming my father-in-law into Westfield House. They are a warm, friendly and caring team. He has been treated with dignity and respect and the staff have done their utmost to accommodate his wishes.
I cannot praise the manager and staff at Westfield House Care Home high enough. All the staff were amazing, so caring and thoughtful towards my mum and my dad who visited regularly. It was a very difficult time, particularly towards the end, but the love that they showed to my mum was awesome. Although mum only went there for respite care, it became obvious that she would not be able to return home. The manager made sure that Mum stayed at Westfield until the end, where she was extremely well cared for and safe. Thank you so much.
My mum came to Westfield House for a short respite stay following multiple hospital admissions. My mum was incredibly resistant to going, and it took her a while to settle in. However, I cannot praise the staff for their patience, understanding of some of the difficulties and caring attitude. During her stay, she had many appointments at the hospital that I couldn't always take her to due to living over 100 miles away. Even at short notice, staff were able to organise and chaperone her. I cannot thank them enough for this. Very good communication with the manager, who was always available to offer advice. Also, a special mention to three members of staff who my mum was particularly fond of. However, all the staff were amazing; I just cannot mention them all. I was very sad when her stay came to an end, and I know even though she is pleased she is home, she misses the care she was given, not to mention the endless cups of tea and cake!
My dad had a short stay of 12 days with Westfield House in September 2022. My dad has always been hesitant about spending time in a care home as he used to work in the industry and had some poor experiences. My dad said that Westfield House was fantastic, the staff were lovely, warm, welcoming and very friendly. He said that the food was "excellent" which is high praise from him Following his stay at Westfield House, my dad is now asking to go back and live there permanently which is the highest compliment he can give them. I would also like to say as a daughter of a service user I have been very happy with the care he received, the staff have been fabulous and welcoming and appear to have a genuine interest in their residents and want the best outcomes for them. Thanks to all.
My grandad has moved around three homes and has had an unsteady first experience of moving into care. We were welcomed to Westfield by the wonderfully caring and welcoming manager's assistant. He has settled very quickly and finally, he feels content. Westfield is a home from home care home. For the first time in months, I feel settled my grandad is happy and cared for as good as he was at home. We have constant communication from the manager's assistant which makes the experience for my family so much easier. I will be eternally grateful to them all.
Our Mum who is 77 years old, transferred to Westfield House in January 2021 from a residential home in Harrogate, which was unable to provide for her needs. She had been diagnosed with dementia in August 2020, was catheterised and when she arrived at Westfield House she had ungradable bed sores and was delirious. The care and attention she has received during her stay at Westfield House has resulted in Mum now being able to return to her own home (with support). She has made a remarkable recovery. The staff are loving, caring, respectful and professional at all times. Mum's recovery is 100% down to the care she has experienced at Westfield House and as a family, we cannot thank the manager and her team of angels enough. We highly recommend this setting for all loved ones in need of nursing or residential care. Westfield House Care Home really does 'Care'.
My mother was transferred from hospital to Westfield House during the Covid pandemic. I have been unable to visit inside the home but have been very impressed with the care she is receiving. Staff are happy, kind and caring. They treat my mother with respect and compassion, promoting her dignity and choices at all times despite her confusion due to dementia. My wife and I have also been supported during this difficult time. We could not ask for more.
My sister was very poorly when she went into Westfield. Since day one, I cannot thank or praise the staff enough. They are excellent; they are so friendly and efficient in all they do, and the care given is spot-on. I cannot thank the manager and her team enough for all they have done for my sister. Well done from the top to the bottom, a big thank you to all.
My uncle has been a resident for six years now. During his stay, his health has suffered but he continues his stay and appears quite content despite not being as active as he was two to three years ago. In my opinion, Westfield House maintains a clean and welcoming home. If there is one criticism I would make, it is that the home operates within tight sizes of some of the rooms. Overall, I am glad that he was able to get a home within Westfield House.
All staff most helpful and friendly to me and caring, thoughtful and considerate to my sister, the resident. Medical care under the local GP doctor is excellent.
We would like to thank the staff on behalf of a member of our family and ourselves. She and her late husband, have both been residents at Westfield House for many years. Sadly, her husband died in January. After many years of a very happy marriage, she was inconsolable. The kind, compassionate, caring qualities of all the staff, helped her through an extremely difficult time, with constant attention and special meals. Thankfully, the home nursed her through and she is now recovering. The extra activities are very much appreciated. The home is especially good with anniversaries. The management and staff are very proactive in all types of situations and they are always helpful, friendly, warm and professional.
My mother has been a long term resident and in all that time we have found the nursing home to be caring, easy to communicate with and efficient. Through this difficult period, they have always kept us informed and have been tireless in their care and respect of their residents.
I am more and more pleased with my choice of this care home for my wife. It continues to improve in every way. Ongoing tasteful refurbishment is adding greatly to the cheerful and homely ambience for resident's and visitors alike. Always a warm welcome and ready access to, and feedback from the competent and equally caring management. It lives up to its name.
Staff helpful at all times. As I get older I find that your mental state starts to sometimes gets mixed up. Personally, that is a worrying state to be, as for as most of my previous years I have been decisive.
Westfield House is a small, comfortable home. The staff are friendly and kind. Relatives are welcomed at any time. Mum is in a modern, clean, bright en-suite room and is very happy. She joins in all the activities and enjoys the community rooms.
All the staff are very kind, they catered for my mum's needs. The meals are very good. They have events going on every day and activities. I do recommend the home.
I have received the greatest care and kindness since I came here. I am 91 years of age.
I am writing this review on behalf of my husband who was resident for four weeks. I found the ethos at Westfield House one of kindness and respect, not only towards the residents but to families and also staff towards each other. The whole place was extremely well managed.
My mother has been cared for in Westfield House Harrogate for 3 years. Throughout the whole 3 years she has received not only good basic care but love and affection from all the staff (including domestic and administrative). Communication with relatives is extremely good and I always feel I can voice an opinion or concern in relation to my mother's health and wellbeing, should I feel the need to do so. Any concerns are always acted upon. It is always difficult facing the decision of putting a loved one into care but relatives are supported and brought into the wider family. This helps to provide comfort and reassurance to the relative. The fact that the care home is small gives it a true feeling of 'home' for the residents and their relatives. The activities organiser is superb and provides a huge range of activities and outings for the residents, ensuring inclusivity for all abilities. Food is excellent, well prepared and inviting, catering for all dietary requirements.
