View Full Details of St Joseph's Nursing HomeMum is looked after with genuine care and consideration for her needs, and is able to enjoy moments of happiness during her slow inevitable decline as dementia progresses. Staff know her, and us as family.
When my mother-in-law arrived at St Joseph's, she was very unwell, frightened, lonely and totally shut down. It has been a privilege to see her change to a happy, contented, engaged and relaxed lady. Thank you to all the staff, that have made this possible; you are all amazing!
It is extremely reassuring to know my mum is safe and warm and receives a very high level of care. All of the staff are friendly and professional and I couldn't wish for her to be anywhere else.
Staff seem welcoming and empathetic. They seem to form relationships with residents similar to a friendship, getting to know their likes, dislikes, interests and hobbies. Staff always make time to answer questions and settle concerns.
The residence is kept clean and tidy albeit in some areas looking tired. The outside area appears at times neglected, poor attention is provided to the smoking area, as it is over filling and cigarette butts are scattered over the floor. We do feel the main residence should be updated (new lift fitted) etc., and prioritised before the extension. At present the home appears understaffed at weekends and you can be waiting 15 minutes for the door to be opened to visit your relative. The staff are very caring and we are confident in knowing our relative is being well treated and looked after which is the most important factor. We have to be honest and say that we feel standards have dropped in recent months, but overall happy with the service.
My mum was cared for with kindness and efficiency for the last few days of her life. I wish we had found St Joseph's earlier for her. Kindness extended to family members as well. Also was aware of other residents being cared for and all was very good. Sadly my mum was too poorly to eat so can't review food but it smelt delicious!
Excellent attentive staff who focus on the residents and family. They are always courteous, deliver resident-specific care and listen to family and residents carefully. I can not praise the team enough from the healthcare assistants to the senior nurses in charge. The location and grounds are peaceful, pleasant and calming. The rooms are very clean. There is a sense of community facilitated by the staff who are the beating heart of this wonderful place. Please don't change!
My Father went into St Joseph's in November 2023 for end of life care. During his stay, for the next ten months, I could not have asked for more. All the staff were amazing, patient, kind, attentive, caring, and respectful, especially through all the difficulties. The end was as good as it could be, thanks to everyone at St Joseph's. Over the moon.
Such a lovely home in a lovely setting. The staff were all so polite and always willing to help with any problems, very clean and bright rooms were immaculate. Constant care was provided always, all staff were so kind and considerate. From cleaners, kitchen staff and nursing personnel are always available. Palliative care was excellent.
My mum has been here since June and you really can't fault the staff in any way. Mum is tube feed but from what I've seen and smelt the food seems lovely. Staff are always kind and always listen to your worries and inform us of my mum's day and the care she has had when we arrive. Yes, some rooms are a little tired looking but I can see they are getting around to decorating all the rooms and it's very clean. Nothing is any bother for anyone and my mum is settled, comfy and feels safe. Also, the doctors they use are excellent as well. As a family, we come here daily and they don't mind us being here as long or as late as we want to be. For information, my mum has had a stroke.
I cannot fault this care home at all. All the staff were very kind, friendly people. Unfortunately, my sister wasn't there for long, but she was looked after really well Everything was kept nice and clean and they took extra time to purée all my sister's food for her. Would highly recommend it.
All the staff at St Joseph's ae caring and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they make time for you whether you are a resident or a relative. I cannot recommend them enough.
The care and affection St Joseph's showed my relative was incredible. I will always be so grateful as to how well they looked after him, as well as me and my family. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you all so, so much!
Staff are always welcoming to me on my arrival. I am updated regularly on any new aspects regarding my husband's care. Any skin problems are dressed often before I am aware of their needs. My husband is completely bedbound, with only real movement being along his right arm, and staff were able to advise me on suitable replacement clothing. Dressing him in his formed shirts and tops had become too painful for him to cope. Staff all chat with him and are well aware of his likes and dislikes. On days when speaking is not his preferred way of communicating, they follow his eye and hand movements to get yes or no answers and following a preference improves his mood or comfort. While I was on a week's holiday, he was beautifully cared for. I found him relaxed and happy on my return; this did not happen a year ago in his previous care home.
My mother was transferred to the home when she was poorly. The care she continued to get from the team is outstanding. Being a nurse myself, I will recommend a loved one to be placed in this care facility. Staff are friendly and show alot of interest in the patient's wellbeing. My mother is now doing very well, and I'm not worried knowing that she is in good hands. Thanks to all the staff and the health care team.
I spent nine days of respite care in St Joseph's and found the staff caring, compassionate and cheerful. The food was clean and well decorated. The PPE admission assessment could have been a bit more comprehensive, but all issues there were resolved within a couple of hours of admission. Excellent facility.
Before my uncle arrived, I phoned. A young man was so kind and helpful. I already like the place before he had even arrived. A nurse took us to uncle. Again so kind, had all the time in the world for us. Even made me a tea. Then while we were still visiting, a nurse came to feed Uncle. She was so caring, always talking to him, no rush feeding him. He was only there two days, but the best two days possible.
Fantastic staff, courteous, professional, lovely rooms, beautiful grounds and excellent food.
Following a severe stroke, my sister was admitted to St Joseph's and whilst there, she was looked after very well. The staff were always kind and considerate and made sure she did not suffer in her last days.
My husband has been in this nursing home since February 2017. The care in this home is excellent. He is always clean, well-fed and his every need is taken care of. I am always informed of any change in his care plan. Even though he is bedridden, he is still included in the entertainment.
