View Full Details of Beacon House Nursing HomeI had to move my mother as her health had quickly deteriorated along with her dementia and required a greater standard of care. After vising Beacon House for a BBQ this year and meeting the staff and residents I knew this was the right place for my mother and that she would be well cared for both physically and mentally and would interact with other residents whilst taking part in the daily activities which helps also to stimulate their minds, be hands-on and interact with others around them. Her bedroom is lovely and she was able to bring her budgie. The meals are of a very high standard and nothing is too much trouble. It was a big decision as to if, where or when I moved my mother and obviously where. I have no regrets about moving her to Beacon House, it was the best place for her, I wish now that I had moved her earlier. Beacon House and all the staff and facilities are amazing. The kindness they show and the care given to my mother is just lovely
Both my parents are in Beacon House. They are very well looked after by all members of staff, who are all very friendly and approachable. They both enjoy the Monday activity/exercise sessions that are laid on. Even my granddaughter loves attending these sessions. Both my parents enjoy the vast amounts of food they receive, and dinner time is one of the highlights of the day. I have never seen my parents consume so much food before. Their bedding and clothing is always freshly laundered, they always receive the correct items back. My mother just loves sitting outside in the extensive garden area, something she hadn't done for a long time before residing in Beacon House. I am very happy that we chose Beacon House.
I moved my mother to Beacon House at the end of March 24. I was very unhappy with the home she was previously at. From the moment I visited Beacon House, I could feel the professionalism/warmth and caring vibes from all the staff and management. When Mum was moved she was thoroughly checked resulting in 3 referrals being done to assist her. They have made mum so very comfortable moving her room to ensure her safety. The patience of all the care staff and nurses is amazing the time they give to all their residents goes above and beyond. Mum has been in hospital for the past month returning on 16th May and she was given such a warm welcome back to the home. The staff have been fantastic in ensuring a smooth transfer and getting Mum settled again. I would definitely recommend Beacon House if you have a family member needing nursing Care.
My father has been at Beacon House for almost 3 years. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. We are kept up to date if our father has any falls, as due to his age and condition are becoming more frequent, precautions are put in place, alarm mats etc You always feel comfortable visiting, always offered a cup of tea. Our father gets involved in activities. Overall would recommend Beacon House as a good care home for your elderly relative.
I found that the staff, from manager down, treated my wife and all of us with kindness, dignity and respect. I was so happy that she was being cared for in such a way. I can only say a big 'thank you' to all of them.
My father has been cared for in Beacon House since August 2023. My family and I visit very often at various times during the day and evening. Every single time we are impressed by the warm welcome, the friendliness of all the staff and the comfort that my father is experiencing despite being bed-ridden. The food is excellent and I would eat it myself! In fact my mother, a frequent visitor, is very happy when she is offered some dessert and she tucks into it whilst talking with my father. The cleanliness of the whole building is excellent. It must be very difficult to keep bedding and clothing tidy when residents are being fed in bed but the carers manage this extremely well. Overall the home is a happy, friendly place. The staff lay on activities for the residents such as singing Santa, PE, animal petting and only yesterday a Valentine's theme. My family and I could not be happier with the care given and especially as this will be my father's last place on earth.
My mother has been at Beacon House Nursing Home for two months, it was a difficult decision finding a home but one made easier by the kind and caring welcome. During this time, I’ve been very happy with how Mum's needs have been met, staff have been quick to adapt with additional assistance as needs have changed. The management is excellent and I’ve got a great relationship with the carers who I see daily. Everyone is friendly and approachable and can speak to them should I have any concerns. The atmosphere in the home is very peaceful even though it’s busy with staff cleaning, providing refreshments and attending to individuals' needs.
My partner was in Beacon House for three weeks receiving end-of-life care. He was extremely well looked after, and all his needs were met by the willing, helpful and caring staff. We were made to feel it was home. The family were welcome to visit at any time of the day for as long as they wanted. We were always greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff.
From my first phone call with the manager at Beacon House, I knew this was the right place for my father-in-law. The home is light, and airy and the staff are attentive, caring and you just feel like they have the patience and nurturing of saints. They were so patient with all of our questions and were instrumental in getting us the palliative care we needed for him. I would highly recommend Beacon to anyone looking for a kind, caring and specialised home for a loved one, really special people there.
My nan has been in Beacon House for the last 4 years. She had nursing care and support for her dementia needs. The care staff have given my nan exceptional care. They have been patient, informative and supportive. It has given us such comfort to know she was being well cared for during the pandemic and through our family's personal circumstances. Thank you. We would recommend Beacon House.
My mum spent approximately 3 weeks in Beacon House Nursing Home after a very difficult 2 months in hospital. When she arrived the doctors had said she was suffering from hospital delirium and was very confused. Her stay in Beacon House was to assess her before hopefully sending her home. We had no previous knowledge of care homes but our family were very pleased with the care she received while in Beacon House and I believe it really helped as part of the transition to coming home. I am happy to say 2 weeks on she is now so much better. The care home itself is an older building but in my experience was always kept very clean and the rooms were of a good standard. The most important thing in a business such as this is clearly the staff and every single one I came into contact with was friendly and caring. All in all her brief period in Beacon House could have been any better in my opinion. Thank you all.
The carers are really lovely at Beacon House Nursing Home. The other day when I went to visit Mum, I took her out to town in her wheelchair. On our way back to the home we met one of the carers in the street who had just finished her shift. She engaged in conversation with Mum even though she was off duty and was so kind. Whenever I visit, Mum is always in good spirits. She seems a much happier person than she was before moving to Beacon House where she had to cope on her own. This has to be down to the high standard of care she receives from the dedicated carers. Thank you Beacon House.
My husband has been in care now for 10 years+ and has been in hospitals and various care homes. Since being a resident of Beacon House for the last 6 years he has received exceptional care from the home/carers and management. We made an excellent decision in Beacon House and we will continue to leave him in their great care.
On weekdays I am usually admitted by the office staff with a nice smile and a quick hello. Sometimes at the weekend, I have to wait a few minutes. I do not mind that as I know the carers are busy people. My wife is always clean and tidy, we were married in 1954. The premises are always kept clean and tidy.
A friendly, caring, warm environment. Staff are hard-working and friendly, always polite and nothing is too much trouble. My husband settled well and I feel he is in the best place for his care needs.
Great care, fabulous staff always warm welcome. The patient is in great care and happy here. Supportive carers and continuing care. Peace of mind relative is safe and has made improvement whilst being here.
I can't speak enough of the care and attention my husband has received since coming into Beacon House. Everywhere is spotless and the careers are so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone who is wanting a place.
When entering Beacon House Nursing Home there is always a calm/quiet feel to the place. The staff are welcoming and keep me updated on health/social issues with regard to my dad. The staff offer a variety of enriching activities for customers to join. Dad's room and the communal areas are always clean and tidy. Dad is happy and settled at Beacon House.
The rooms are nice and clean. Food is served cold the majority of the time and I've had to take food in on more than one occasion. The staff are friendly and helpful. There has been no hot water for 4 weeks on the second floor and now the lift is out of order. There are staffing shortages too, which I'm sure is across the board in all care facilities at the moment. If these problems were sorted this would be a great care home. Overall I'm not impressed.
All staff are extremely kind and caring. Also very professional in what they do. My dad is very content here and we know that he is looked after and cared for to a very high standard. He loves all the staff.
