View Full Details of St George's Nursing Home WithamThe whole team at St George's were fantastic from the moment Mum entered the home . The care and attention she was shown was fantastic . The respect she was shown through to her end of life was amazing . They also helped us a family with their compassion and understanding . The media bombards us with horror stories of nursing and care homes , there was never one moment when we came away after visiting Mum that gave us cause for concern , in fact the exact opposite , we knew she was safe and comfortable. Thank you and well done to all
My mother came a few years ago under the previous owners- first impressions were that the home was shabby but it had a lovely feel, glad I went with my instincts. We now have new owners, things have gone upwards since. The improvements and refurbishment are fantastic - it has the same lovely feel but is now also smart and impressive. My mother has all her faculties, and the staff have become her every day family - she isn't one to mix, but she enjoys conversing with the staff, and the younger ones open her eyes to how different the world is today than when she was their age! It's a good exchange as she can tell them about life when she was younger. My father was in another home and he died recently, it was hard for Mum but the staff have been brilliant. It helped me knowing I wasn't leaving her in a house trying cope alone, she has lots of care and support around her 24/7. The manager is an excellent manager, I can talk to her about anything and she deals with things promptly.
My family and I can't thank all the staff enough for their kindness and care of our mum, nan and great grandmother, who sadly passed away on 18th January 2025. From the day mum became a resident to her final hours she was given the best care possible and for that, all her family will be forever grateful. She could be a handful at time's but nothing was too much and they showed her such kindness. And a special thank you to the manager for all your help and guidance, when we were stuck. If your thinking about placing a family member here, they will be in good hands, so don't worry.
The team at St Georges was excellent in looking after my Dad, who was receiving end-of-life care. Everyone was caring, compassionate, and understanding, and the facilities at the home are modern, well-looked-after, and clean. The food and service from what I saw on my visits looked good, and the staff worked really hard to attend to resident's needs, despite often challenging situations. They could not have been kinder and more caring, dealing with a very difficult situation sensitively and providing me with honest communication throughout. To all the wonderful staff at St Georges - thank you.
My mother was transferred to St George's for end-of-life care. This is obviously a very difficult time for any family. My mother was treated with the greatest of care and respect by all staff and even in the last few days when she was unconscious, the staff continued to talk to her and explain what they were going to do. My father was permitted to stay with her in her room and for the last few days, he never left her side, ensuring that he was with her at the end. The staff also looked after my father well and ensured that he was fed, cared for and he was treated with respect. The home has recently been renovated and is a very pleasant place to be. The food was excellent. Sadly my mother refused food and drink, but this did not stop staff from constantly trying with her but never forcing her against her will. We will always be thankful to all the staff for the care and dignity given to my mother at the end and for the time that we were able to spend with her in a peaceful setting.
My father is in St George's for end-of-life care. All the staff are so very kind and professional. It's an enormous comfort knowing this. They cater for his every need. The home is kept very clean and has a home-from-home feel about it.
My mum stayed in St George's for just under two weeks for end-of-life care. Mum was very happy with her room and facilities. The staff were very kind, caring and compassionate. They treated her with respect and gave her dignity. We, as a family, can not fault this care home and they were always great with Mum and also us as a family. It was very clean and, although Mum wasn't able to eat the food, it always looked lovely.
My brother has been a resident at St George's Nursing Home for over three years and we have been extremely impressed with the caring and loving attitude of all the staff, they are friendly and professional at all times. My brother is always clean, comfortable and well cared for. I have every confidence that I am contacted as soon as possible if there is any change in his condition.
From the moment I walked into St George's, the staff were wonderful, not only looking after my husband, but taking care of me too! St George's is the most loving, caring place I have ever been in. Because of all the love and care to my husband, and to me and our family, it made saying 'goodbye' much easier. So, thank you St George's for being so wonderful and caring to my husband. Thank you to you all for your calm, gentle way to make my husband be at peace.
It was an extremely difficult decision to place our mother in a nursing home, but we knew it was the right thing to do. From our very first contact, we found the staff at St George's to be caring and very professional. Nothing was too much trouble. I have had the experience with multiple care homes, and I feel the care at St George's outshines them all. Our mother was only in a few days, but they treated her with respect and compassion. The aftercare was amazing too; the staff took the time to talk to us and check in on us. I can't rate them highly enough.
It was very sad for the family to be told that my husband, their Dad, was terminally ill with cancer. He needed palliative care, and we were advised that this should be done in a nursing home. From day one, he settled straight into being cared for. We were allowed to visit anytime, any day, which was marvellous seeing as we were within walking distance from the home. All the staff were exceptionally kind and very passionate about their roles. The level of care was outstanding, and even when he started to deteriorate health-wise, their care didn't waver. He was still treated so very kindly, which was a great comfort to us. We knew he was safe there too, which again was a great comfort to us. Everything that was done for him was done with a level of kindness that I had never seen before. Gentle is another word I would use to describe that kindness. We couldn't have asked for more for him in those last couple of weeks of his life. Everything was perfect.
My partner has been in St Georges for 6-years. I've always found the staff excellent, compassionate and kind. The management team are excellent. They always show respect and provide high standards of care. My sincere thanks to you all.
It was a tough decision to move our dad to St George's, but he was elderly and frail, and we knew he was nearing the end of his life. The staff at St Georges are all absolutely amazing and so helpful, making his transition to the home so much easier for us, and they continued to provide the highest level of unwavering care and attention throughout his stay, having a deep respect for his comfort and wellbeing, as well as providing us with reassurance that he was ok whenever we asked, day or night. The whole family cannot praise the staff enough for everything they did for our dad, right up to the point he slipped peacefully away six weeks later, and I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in looking after him and caring for him during his brief stay.
My mum spent 18-months at St George's. The housekeeping, care and nursing staff are compassionate and friendly, taking the trouble to get to know both of us. They looked after Mum extremely well, allowing her to keep her dignity and being respectful of her desire for independence. In the last few weeks of her life, particularly the staff, were also very caring in their support for me. Even when Mum no longer had much awareness, all staff continued to treat her as if she had, explaining what they were doing and listening to her with patience and understanding when she was able to express her needs. The office staff were kind and efficient, responding quickly to queries. Mum's stay took place entirely within the Covid pandemic period, St George's did their very best to enable visiting when regulations permitted. I couldn't have wished for better care for her - thank you all.
Mum was there for five years after a stroke. The staff were kind and very understanding with her. They dealt very well with Covid. Mum couldn't do anything herself. She was only given three months in the beginning, but made five years! That tells you how good they are.
My mother spent eight months at St Geroge's. We found the staff to be very friendly and caring. They were also very good at communicating with us.
My Mum had lived with Parkinson's for 25-years before we had to make the extremely difficult decision to have Mum cared for in a nursing home. It was especially hard for my Dad, who had cared for Mum for so long. We visited various nursing homes, but none gave us the welcoming, homely feeling that St George's did. We chose St George's and it was the right decision. Mum moved in in October 2019. Dad visited nearly every day, even joining Mum for lunch in the dining hall and was made to feel as much a part of the St George's family as Mum was. We were all made so welcome by every single member of staff there. They have a varied activity timetable with regular live entertainment too. The carers helped Mum with her hair, makeup and jewellery, which she loved. Mum was treated with such respect, love and kindness by everyone. During the lockdown, the staff helped set up FaceTime calls every day so that Mum could speak to Dad and could see him. Sadly my Mum passed away peacefully in September 2021. Thank you all so much for your care, professionalism and for loving my Mum.
My mum was with you for only two weeks, but the care she received was wonderful. She had been living with bowel cancer for the past 2-years and came to you after a stay in hospital for end of life care. Your staff treated her with the utmost respect and dignity right to the very end. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and kindness towards all the family during such a hard time. Thank you so very much.
Our dad passed away on 14/3/21 following a short terminal illness. He had exemplary care, was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. All of the staff, without exception, are to be commended for their professionalism. They are a true credit to the care sector. Thank you at a time like this seems an inadequate word, but our sincerest thanks go to all of the St George's team. My sister and myself were also treated with kindness and respect.
All the staff at St George’s provided the best nursing care and support for my sister and brother-in-law. My sister-in-law was sadly at the end of her life, but the staff treated her with dignity and respect until the very end. We were kept up to date regularly; St George’s is a home from home, and we would recommend it to everybody. A big thank you to everybody at the home.
