View Full Details of Shire Lodge Nursing HomeMy mum came to Shire Lodge after not settling in another care home and had been evicted. It was a terrible and unsettling time. Once at Shire Lodge, she settled immediately. She returned to her happy, singing self, put weight back on and accepted personal care. I put this down to the friendly and homely environment, staff who are well trained and every wellbeing need considered. She soon called it 'home' and accepted this is where she lives. As a family, we couldn't be happier. Thank you.
I am so happy and grateful for the dementia team at Shire Lodge and how they care for my grandma. My grandma is thriving here. I recommend it highly to anyone seeking a lovely, welcoming and excellent female dementia nursing home for their loved ones. Thank you for all you do for my grandma Shire Lodge team, it is so appreciated. I am/have not been involved in the care home financials or comparison so could not comment on this.
Excellent service at Shire Lodge Nursing Home, care is second to none and staff go over and beyond to cater for their needs. Everyone who works there mucks in to make sure all residents are happy with sorting entertainment out and other things to do. Nice to see residents happy, my mum was happy there and she made new friends. 100% service.
My husband has been amazing since he has been with them. He enjoyed everything they do there. Thank you for what they have done for him and they always look after him. The staff are welcome to me in the home.
There is always a warm welcome on my visits to Shire Lodge. The home is very clean and bright. The food always looks and smells very good. Residents look happy and well cared for. There is entertainment weekly and they excel for special events. Shire is a very homely home, everyone is made to feel comfortable.
Can't fault them. Outstanding care and very professional and friendly. Keep family updated on any issues or appointments. Staff check-in regular and a chat. I feel that these have done more for me than the hospital. My family say that I'm a lot happier too. Cannot thank them enough.
From the moment my mum entered Shire Lodge, she was given the warmest of welcomes. All staff at Shire Lodge have been kind, patient and caring towards my mum. All of them, carers, activities, canteen, domestic, reception, nurses and management all continue to show a genuine concern for her. Mum’s behaviour can sometimes be challenging; they are always patient, kind and respectful towards her. The decision to place a loved one into care is one of the most difficult things to do, and I made it with great reluctance and worry. The staff at Shire Lodge have made it so much easier to accept. They not only support my mum, but they also support me, and I really can’t thank them enough. Their support and communication have been invaluable.
Shire Lodge Nursing Home may not be the fanciest nursing home around, but what they lack in looks is outweighed by the care they give to their residents, which to myself and my family is the most important thing. Since being at the home, he hasn’t had to be admitted to the hospital once. The staff are always pleasant and helpful whenever I have needed to speak with them. They keep me updated with my dad's condition and any concerns they may have. I feel they are always trying to improve where they can. My overall thoughts are that it is a good home, and they do the best they can for their residents.
Mum always looks clean, and the room is relatively clean but could do with revamping. Mum gets taken to some activities and looks happy when she attends. The food looks nice and tasty. Overall, I’m satisfied with her care.
Genuinely caring staff and treat patients like family or friends. Happy to answer questions and regularly update you on issues or changes. Food management and observation might be a little better but understand staffing challenges and that time might not be available. At times when we visit, food can either be what is not wanted or cold and uneaten. Plenty of events to keep patients entertained and socialising.
We asked if it was possible to have my dad in Shire Lodge because it was close to where we live, and my mum could see my dad. My dad was on end of life at the end of January 21. From the beginning to the end when he passed away in February, everybody that we met in the care home was wonderful. We could phone up any time, and nothing was too much. All staff were lovely, they made sure family members were ok as well as my dad. My dad liked all his carers and nurses; he didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. If we needed information on Dad, they gave it to us and kept us in the loop on how he was. Sadly Dad passed away in Shire Lodge in February; the staff looked after him to a high standard. The funeral director even commented on how wonderful my dad looked when they came for him. We cannot thank all the staff enough for the care he received. I would recommend Shire Lodge through my own personal experience.
I was very optimistic about placing Mum into a care home but all the staff at Shire Lodge put me and Mum at ease. As soon as she was through the door everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The care was amazing and nothing was to much trouble. Although Mum could be demanding at times the staff were patient and kind all the time. I would definitely recommend Shire Lodge to anyone.
We are eternally grateful to the manager and her team especially two members in particular for the exemplary support and guidance that you have afforded our mum during her stay in your care home. It is evident that your support has been holistically tailored to our mum that your team has been able to predict when it was her time to pass on that you were able to a doctor and called us to let us know that she will not be able to make it through the night. Therefore, although we did not arrive on time because we live far away, she did not die alone. You don't realise how much this means to us! The paperwork was spot on! We were able to check how much food and fluid intake she had since she arrived in your setting. We were made aware of the various strategies that your team has employed to encourage her to eat and drink and we are grateful that you have exhausted all the means to ensure that all strategies have been explored within reason and with her consent.
The care provided is of a good standard, always clean and tidy but the dining area and lounge could be a more appealing area for residents. No dining area as such. Also, I do not receive any feedback on any activities they have done.
The staff are courteous and are very helpful.
When entering the care home, I'm always welcomed with a friendly; "hello how are you". The staff are always kind and always help with any problems I may have.
It is one of the hardest decisions to place your loved ones in someone else's care. From the time that we first visited Shire Lodge when we were faced with the knowledge that my mother could no longer care for our father at their home, we know Shire Lodge was the best, last thing we could do for him. The carers are not just carers they have also become our friends. They are there when our dad is having a good day and they were there when he needed to go into hospital, and when he returned he was treated with care, dignity and respect. We could never hesitate in recommending Shire Lodge to anyone who may find themselves in the same situation and we consider ourselves extremely lucky that our dad is in their care.
The manager and all her staff do a fantastic job looking after my wife. It is the most challenging of jobs undertaken with care and compassion to a high standard!
My husband gets good care and the staff are very helpful.
