View Full Details of Austenwood Nursing HomeMy circumstances with a very elderly relative changed resulting in a Sunday enquiry for assistance. By the next day Austenwood Care Home had collected the elderly relative and welcomed her for a weeks respite care. Since then the relative has stayed in Austenwood. Relaxing in the 24 hour professional care, the comfortable surroundings and the loving people. This really is 5 star treatment. For myself this is the first time I've had to deal with a very elderly relative with diminishing physical abilities. Austenwood's staff have provided guidance, reassurance and gently taken control. I'm so grateful for them and how they always appear happy and content leaving myself to the role of spectator As for my elderly relative well she just wished she had known about Austenwood Care Home a lot earlier but that we can't change.
Austenwood Nursing Home is an outstanding nursing home on every level, from the day my brother moved in, to the day he passed peacefully and lovingly away. The home welcomed both him and the family into their loving care and hearts. He was blind, wheelchair-bound, amongst other issues and had dialysis three times a week. None of this was a problem for the home, they met his physical and dietary needs with diligent care and love. We loved visiting him and seeing the Austenwood family, it was a happy and joyful place and lovely to sit and have a coffee with the staff who always gave us a warm welcome and time. The social events were always such fun. During his end of life, we were so blessed to have him at the home. The family were held in their care and he was peaceful and calm to the very end. We will always be grateful to Austenwood Nursing Home for the nursing staff, the care and activities team for making Gordon's life so comfortable, fulfilled and happy.
Mum has been here for 18 months now and is slowly deteriorating with Alzheimer's dementia. The care has been loving and comprehensive, professional and interactive. Personal care has been excellent and respectful of her needs and fears. The vast majority of the staff, covering all the teams involved clinically, institutionally, entertaining, or service orientated have been excellent. My most recent interaction was with the senior nurse about how to manage the closing down care as Mum deteriorates into the final stage of disability with her dementia and this was thoughtful, proactive, and caring, whilst also empowering us to be involved and informed at all stages. We are confident that our Mum is in the right place for this process. Thank you to all the staff
My husband has been a resident at Austenwood since January 2024. I visit him daily for about 1.5 hours and have had during these visits the chance to observe his care both in the privacy of his room and in the resident's lounge. In the latter location, I have been able to observe the care of other residents. I can only say that I find the care at Austenwood exemplary. The employment of male/female nurses, carers, chefs, activities staff, and cleaners across multiple nationalities adds to the overall well-being of the residents. My husband's health condition means he is not the easiest resident to care for but the staff team does it all with dignity, respecting his choices and respect for his quality of life. In turn, I have been offered support on all my visits and consulted on his care needs. Every day I find him shaved, with personal hygiene attended to, and dressed appropriately. He is sometimes agitated but nursing staff react quickly with prescribed medication to calm him.
Absolutely fantastic care home. The care is the absolute best. So nice to know everyone is cared for 100% and safe. Everywhere is so clean.
All the staff at Austenwood Nursing Home are extremely helpful, friendly, and passionate. From the warm welcome at reception, the friendly face in the kitchen, and the excellent support from the carers. We are so happy our uncle is a resident at Austenwood, and look forward to our visits!
Always a pleasure to visit - anytime. My uncle is safe and cared for so well. All the staff are so nice and kind.
We have all been made to feel part of one big family. We love Austenwood and so does our great uncle. All the staff have been amazing!
Everyone at Austenwood is professional, kind, supportive and thoughtful. It is such a relief to know that my Mum is being so well looked after - they do their very best to make sure she is supported, encouraged, and has stimulation from the things that interest her. Her strength and weight have both significantly improved in the few months that she has been here.
My Mother has been a resident of Austenwood Nursing Home for a year and since she has been here she has improved greatly. The staff are all incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly.
Austenwood is a friendly, warm, and welcoming home. My great uncle loves it here, especially the food!
Austenwood is a caring, professional house. Mum has been treated with respect and dignity. The staff are attentive and work hard to make the residents feel safe and comfortable.
Austenwood staff responded rapidly to provide respite care at very short notice. From management to reception to nursing and care staff, the team were welcoming, efficient and quick to assess the resident's needs. The welcome received on arrival was first class - and made a nervous and unwell person feel very much at home. The respite has now transitioned seamlessly to permanent care due to the initial service and the ongoing, friendly care and service provided. The area is warm, attentive and nothing is too much trouble.
My father entered Austenwood Nursing Home in 2022. At that time it had a welcoming attitude from all members of staff, was tidy and well kept and as a relative, I was made to feel part of the Austenwood Family. In 2023 the home was sold to Premium Care Group and at this point, the Nursing Home deteriorated. In a year there have been 3 managers and staffing currently feels unstable. The nursing team and care staff are exceptional and work tirelessly to ensure residents' needs are met. Management is poor and the owners do not like meeting with relatives. My Dad could not wait to get out of Austenwood and now lives with me. If he hadn't had this opportunity I would have had no hesitation in finding a new care home for him. In 2022 I would have highly recommended Austenwood, but now I would avoid it at all costs. The owners are spending money on facilities that can't be used by the residents and would be better spent on updating the infrastructure of the building. Such a shame.
Since my last glowing review, the home has been very unsettled with 3 changes of Manager and indeed, new owners. The carers continue to provide excellent care; they are the home's greatest asset but are undervalued and treated like workhorses. The cook and his staff provide excellent home-cooked food and are very flexible and accommodating. However, there has been a huge turnover of staff, the Activities Manager being just one. Additionally, because of the wildly changing needs of residents, activities are limited. Admin is defensive, often presents with a total lack of clarity and is poor. Management is a shambles and the Directors are bullish and threatening. I'm afraid, on this basis, I do not recommend Austenwood at the moment.
There aren't enough words to explain the warmth, care and support shown and provided by Austenwood. Everyone from the cleaners, housekeepers, kitchen staff, reception and carers provide an exemplary service for the residents and relatives and visitors alike.
My wife came in to Austenwood for respite care after a difficult stay in hospital. The care home is very professionally run but at the same time friendly and welcoming. All of the care staff were excellent, and the ambience of the home is ideal for a respite stay.
My husband arrived here this year and to date, I have found his care to be exceptional. Any concern I have mentioned has been addressed and on my near-daily visits, without fail, I have always experienced a friendly welcoming smile from all the care and staff team. The food is enjoyed by the residents along with varied days with activities. There is a caring 'family' atmosphere throughout. A good choice all round.
My wife has been a resident of Austenwood Nursing Home since June 2023. The care and support she has received has been excellent throughout. The staff are always friendly and helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The establishment is well-run and I am very pleased with the choice I have made regarding my wife's wellbeing.
I cannot rate this nursing home highly enough. The care provided to Dad was excellent. The care for visitors was also compassionate, friendly, welcoming and warm. From the moment you step through the door, you can feel the atmosphere of a well-organised staff team who care about each other and their clients and visitors, whatever time of the day or night you arrive.
